:flower: I did a search on this subject and only found responses from 12/04. Wondering if anyone has flown recently with Disney Pins. How did you handle it? :scratchin Just leave them in your carry-on? Or did you hand them to the security person and let them know you have them? We won't be taking alot - but I expect we will have quite a few on the return! Thanks for any input. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :cheer2:

:hourglass 5d:8h:30m to go!!!!

I just leave them in my carry-on. I usually have 20-25 pins with me and I have never had an issue at MSP or MCO.

If you have a lot in your carry on they may inspect the bag. They just look and away you go. Usually you have a conversation about pin trading with the TSA agent. :) Not a problem taking pins through security. Just don't put them in your suitcase if you want to see them again.

I traveled to WDW in January and April this year and I have a full (three trading bags and then some...LOL) in a carry-on suitcase. I always get this look from the scanner operator and then I get "Oh, its you again" and "I thought this suitcase looks familiar"...just a quick check of the pin bags inside and I am on my way.

Only had one issue about a year ago with a person at the check in in the Sanford, FL Transmeridian Airlines desk that tried to force me to check the bag. She first told me that we had too many carry-ons (we had one each) and then she tried to tell me that the bag was over weight (it was 35 lbs.). I informed her that it was worth quite a bit and if she would personally be responsible for the value (I have over 350 trade pins) I would be glad to check it with my luggage. After that she went to the TSA supervisor and had me designated as a "secondary screening" candidate and I got a 30 minute search and screen before being allowed through the security check point.

Lets just say that we won't be flying on TMA in the future!

I don't have quite that many, but I have 40-50 pins and have had no trouble with them in my carry on. I normally fly out of either Logan or Green and the bag normally sails right through security.

I am also very careful on what else is in the bag. It could be something else that security questions, not your pins.

Thanks everyone - you have put this  mind to ease. Can't wait only 3 more days. Have a great day everyone - Thanks again!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :cheer2:

WE are taking one small pin bag with us with about 100 or so pins in it, we were thinking about burying it in our checked luggage in a inside zippered compartment. We have enough stuff in our carry on since we arive late and our luggage won't make it through ME till the next morning. Is there really that much theft of pins from bags?

Bev

Don't ever pack anything in your suitcase that you can't afford to lose. Stuff gets stolen every day from luggage. Chances are it would be fine but do you want to take that chance?

If you have 100 pins and they are valued at an avereage of $8.50 each then you are carrying $850. Would you place $850 in cash in your suitcase?

IMHO...not me!

We had a carry-on bag taken to a table and closely inspected in Ft. Myers this past Easter break. There were about 45 pins in a small bag, and the inspector had never seen them before. Once he understood what they were, he was pretty embarrassed about the whole thing. Next time, we'll just keep them seperate from the other bags. No big deal! ;)

This comes up often on the Collectors Board. I think the situation Drcell01 mentioned is the only time I know of that anyone, airline check-in or airport security, has questioned the pins or tried to make someone check them.

Not only that, but I definitely remember buying Disney pins at a Disney Store in the Charlotte airport inside the security area. This was after 9/11, so that kind of blows any security argument IMO.

Just let the TSA agent know ahead of time what's in there and offer it to be hand checked, and you shouldn't have any problem.

Gosh when you put it that way, my pins are worth more than my camera and no way that goes in my checked luggage! All the pins we are bringing are from 2000-03 so most could not be replaced, guess we will be bring a bigger carry on!

Thanks!
Bev
