Due to the fact of world events I've decided to have a pin protest. All of my pins that are from "Euro Disney" or "Disneyland Paris" have been put into pin exile. They have been removed from all my pin books, binders, and lanyards until furthur notice and will be kept in storage while in exile. For a time I was seriously thinking of giving them away, or selling them on ebay, but I've decided to keep them because I like them.

Hopefully I wont be the odd man out and others will join this peaceful pin protest

I do not wish to be flammed, I also do not wish to get into a heated political arguement. If you wish to ask or discuss my reasons for doing this pin protest I will be more than happy too.

Larry

Larry,

I just forwarded you an email that I think you will find very apropos...

Wow, Larry..........

I for one, really admire you! You know, a lot of people might say what does that accomplish? and I guess, it doesn't really do anything but make a statement of committment, especially to yourself. I guess I would be willing at least not to buy or tade any more Euro or DLP pins for now, but, wow, to go through my collection, and remove them into "pin exile"......don't know if I'm that strong........especially my Bertoni pins. Wait, is Bertoni Italy? That would be ok, wouldn't it????? We're really talking France and Germany aren't we? So, I guess those of who go along with pin exile are really telling a lot about ourselves!!! LOL!:teeth:

Count me in. And trust me, I do love the Paris pins. They've made some nice Pooh pins. BUT!! I will boycott trading for Paris and German pins till this is settled. Once and for all.

I could really get started, but I'll behave!
Grrrrrrrr

That's all I have to say about that,
Winnie

And I'm also boycotting Japanese pins because my Sony Vaio Laptop is acting up and they cant get me the parts to fix it, so no more Japanese pins till this issue is resolved as well.

Seriously I'm in no Paris Germany pins till they stop playing games. Not that I was ever a fan of those pins to begin with.

I like this idea. I'm going to "exile" all my pins that include the American flag, since I'm so ashamed that my country is about to embark on a war of aggression.

No offense Tom,

Maybe you should move to Paris. Or better yet, we can hold a fundraiser to send you as a human shield to Iraq

Michael

I've been thinking that, myself. I don't like what this country is becoming.

Tom,

I may not agree with the president about going to war with Iraq, but I am proud to be an American and if it wasn't for our Constitution which gives us free speach, you would be dead for speaking out against our government and country.....

I love that argument. "if it wasn't for our Constitution which gives us free speach [sic], you would be dead for speaking out against our government and country," so you better not use your free speech.

The reason we have free speech is so that people can speak up when the government is doing something wrong. THAT is what America is all about (or was supposed to be all about.) If you don't understand that, maybe it is you who doesn't belong in this country.

Whenever I feel doubt about what my country is doing, or hear anti-American sentiment, I get a mental image of a jumbo jet crashing into the World Trade Center. That image has been permanently branded on my mind.. how quickly people seem to forget....

I too have ambivilent feelings about the upcoming war, but I have NO DOUBT that The United States of America is the greatest country in the WORLD. I will continue to proudly display my American Flag.

It is insulting to read otherwise on these boards.

No one is questioning freedom of speach, you said you are ashamed to be an American! You can't just be an American when it is convenient. Go live in Iraq or Kenya, or the Cheken Republic for a while...maybe then you would realize what you have that you are taking for granted.

Larry,

You should hang out with Judith, she stores her pins as to whether they are straight or not. I don't even want to know how she determines that.
I have to admit, that is an interesting idea. Not having any Paris pins, I am not sure I can support you. I did try to determine whether my pins had any French blood in them. I sat them in front of the television and made them watch Jerry Lewis movies. Those that seemed interested I put in a pile. The others, I just figured the blood was from when I forgot to put backs on them and stuck them on my hat.

Hey Pern, I did have a question for you. Where did you get your Atlas? Is the Chicken Republic anywhere near the Banana Republic? I hope it is run better. I went into a Banana Republic last week to try and get a fruit salad. Not one person in that store could even tell me if grapes were included or if I would have to buy those separately. I did get a map from a Kenny Rogers Roasters one time at a truck stop but that map only showed other Kenny Rogers locations so it wasn't a lot of help.

Yo Synonymous, your name sounds familiar. I think I knew someone who had a name like yours but it was spelled differently. Do you have a good twin? I am not sure I agree with your term of "free speech". Nothing in life is ever free. Each time you share your opinion, it comes at a cost. Sometimes the cost is positive, others it is negative. It is up to you to determine whether you want your interpersonal checkbook to be overdrawn.

Regardless of the way this thread has progressed I think it is admirable that everyone has feelings about what is happening in our world. Because this thread is off-topic and is getting quite personal, I am going to lock it. Should you wish to continue this discussion, I recommend that you move over to the Community board or the Debate board. These would be great forums for you to continue your diatribe (which incidently is not what happens when hippies and native Americans get their laundry mixed.)
