PinPics TA changes UPDATED...Changes in Place

Ok Below are the things that the new TA will have in it. We did not alter the current TA but basically rewrote the entire thing. We hope that you all enjoy the changes and that this makes it easier for everyone to find the pins and make the trades that they want to make.


It should hopefully be up by tomorrow at the latest. Britt is slaving away on it and has over half the changes already finished. We are very excited about all of this and will post as soon as it is done...


1. We no longer support the checkboxes which allowed you to indicate that you were willing to trade any pin you owned, or that you wanted any pin you don't already own. Very few members were using these features effectively, and to those we apologize, but most other members were either not using these features, confused by them, or running into problems because of them. We're hoping that those members who wish to continue to trade this way will please contact us about what we could provide going forward.


2. When viewing pin information pages, you will now see statistics about how many members want the pin and are trading the pin. You can click on the statistic headers to see the lists of users who want or are trading the pin. Note: members who have indicated that they wish to be anonymous will not show up on these lists. Also, members whose e-mail addresses are not marked public will show up with an e-mail address of "N/A".


3. When viewing pin information pages, you can now click links to add the pin to your collection, your want list, or your traders.


4. The page which displayed a member's trade and want lists has now been broken apart into a trade list and a want list. This allows proper pagination as well as multiple views (ie. thumbnails). If you have existing links to your trades and wants list, then anyone following those old links will be presented with the option to view your trades or view your wants.


5. The new automated Trade Assistant works in two ways. The first way is to view a pin information page and then click a link which finds anything from your traders that you could potentially trade for that one pin. The second way is to run the "find trades now" like before, except that it will now only display a list of pins that you could potentially trade, and you will need to click on each one to see what you could get for it. No longer will the Trade Assistant work on every possible trade at the same time, as this was too long, too crazy, and not what people wanted. It also caused many browser problems.


6. You will also be able to operate the automated Trade Assistant in reverse, where you start with a list of the pins you could trade for, and then can click each one to see what you could trade to get them.


7. The new automated Trade Assistant now stores up all potential trade requests from any given member and sends out a single e-mail early in the morning. No longer will anyone receive multiple messages from the same person on the same day. This has the added advantage that you can edit any of your trade requests if you do so before that e-mail goes out.


8. When the new automated Trade Assistant sends your requests out in the morning, you will also receive a confirmation e-mail detailing which members received your requests.

Am I reading this right, we can change the requests PRIOR to them being sent out (no. 7)? At what point will we be able to do this? It sure would be nice to delete requests that have already been sent out to the same people over and over again who have already declined a trade. Then I won't have to bother them again.

Unfortunately we are still looking into the best way to do that. We are hoping with the checks and balances of having the list available at the actual pins this will be cut way down.

I am hoping to have a preview in the near future where the TA will say here is what you have requested be sent out and here is who it will be going to but Britt groans and says don't do this to me...Evidently it is harder to do that it seems. LOL

In the meantime, my apologies to those same poor people who keep on getting requests from me(who unfortunately have the pins I seek but I don't have anything in trade)-just delete them. LOL

The changes are nice. Just sent off my first offer(s). I do miss not knowing how many people I'm contacting immediately but I understand the desire to generate the emails in the off hours. Of course, now I have to set my alarm earlier in the morning to make sure I check my email before I go to work.

I don't mind ANY PinPics emails, and I do answer every one. I've made wonderful friends among the regular PinPics users and even went on to make trades with some who contacted me DOZENS of times before the right offer came my way.

Ok talked to Britt and he says he thinks he can do that. It would be in a type of Trading Status page. You can look through it and see what trades you have set up to go out at the end of the day and (cross fingers) it will give you a list of who you are emailing what to... Then you can delete them if you have already sent that offer... Is this about what you would like? I am not sure if this will got done today or what because he is working but he says he thinks he can do it that way....


Other thing I am going to try and get him to put in is a thing that says the last time someone updated their trades and wants when you are looking at the lists from the main database....

You guys are doing such wonderful things for the site. And making it so easy to use. I visit the site daily, it's one of life pleasures in pin trading. Great work. It makes trading for the just one pin som much easier than before.

I have already completed two trades since the changes were emplaced! It is definitely more fun to navigate.

My absolute favorite new features are the pin statistics, public e-mails, locating traders right from the pin's webpage and the "What's New?" section, even including comment updates!

The change I'd like to see in the future is to have the pin's stats available from any link, rather than just seeing the picture in some pages and having to get out of that section to go into the search string in order to view the complete information.

Overall, I like it.

Figgy, that is EXACTLY what I am talking about. Oh Wow!!!

For instance, I received the confirmation trade results today and yet again, I will be bugging some of the same people! (sorry in advance for that). There would have been at least 8 of those requests that I would have deleted because I know that those offers had already been sent and declined before.

Oh, you are so wonderful. I can't wait for that to happen!!!

I've added a link to the My PinPics page that allows you to view and edit your current pending trade requests, as they would appear to those members who would receive them. Now you can fine tune who gets what request.

Be prepared, though, that if you go select more trades then it may add them back to the list. Do the editing stuff after you're done selecting things to trade.
