"Pinky" AKA PrincessAurora - Computer geek, web designer, and Disney Princess Fiend. Always planning her next trip to The World.
Dot Tech Contractor, 40s Swing Dancer & Hep Kitten, first timer at WDW veteran Disneyland Nut. (Please note all detailed food reviews are featured as separate reports after Day 8)
Well it was out last day in The World. We had auto checkout so they just slid the incidentals bill under the door. Everything was correctly accounted for. I am really going to miss this resort! I wish I had had time to swim in the pool (though we did take a dip early on in the Wilderness Villas Jacuzzi their pool is a little quieter also). I wish I had spent a day just bumming around. I could have been very happy just lazing by the pool, perhaps taking the boat over to Fort Wilderness and checking that out. I wish I had just sat by the fire and read a book. I wish I had taken the Lodge tour. I wish I would have explored the floors more and looked for Hidden Mickeys. I wish I had enough money to afford a Suite. I wish I could have eaten at Artist Point again or just hang at the bar and socialize. I wish I had talked to the Vacation Club people. The idea of getting to stay here as home is sounding appealing.
We had our luggage stored with the bell captain and took the bus over to Magic Kingdom. We decided to go on a few rides again before lunch. We took the People Mover over Tomorrowland, which was nice. It is a good break, fairly interesting and doesnt just poke along at 2 miles per hour.
We rode AE, HM and Pirates again, trying to squeeze every last bit of fun out off our time remaining. We went to the new Tiki room and it was fun with the addition of Zazu and Iago.
Our lunch was so-so. Next time I will just try someplace else. I really have a feeling that Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom does have sub-standard food. At least MGM/Disney Studios has Brown Derby and Epcot has more above average places to eat than you can shake a stick at!
One point that Dot made is that perhaps Magic Kingdom (and Animal Kingdom as well) should take a page out of Disneylands book in regard to food. While Disneyland doesnt have stellar food either (with the exception of private club, Club 33) it does have great presentation. What they do is to have displays of the food either in the window or before you get to the podium to order. This way you can window shop on what looks good. You know what the portions are and if it looks appetizing to you.
The counter service food in Disneyland is much faster as well. I cant understand when the park is half empty and there are only a few people in front of you that it takes twice as long to get your food.
Well, taking one long look around we headed back the boat to return to Wilderness Lodge for a last soak of Lodge atmosphere. Our Tiffany Town Car was arriving at 3:00 and we had approx. 25 minutes to do last minute shopping at the mercantile (which we did) and I did get to sit in the lobby for a few minutes, look up at all the floors rising above my head and relax.
The hooping and hollering from Whispering Forks will even be missed (sort of). At least we could tell time when they started yelling, Come and get it! at 6:00pm. I hear they also do this at noon.
Time to go, back to Orlando, New Orleans and finally to Oakland. We were going from 83 degrees and sunshine to 53 degrees and rain. Sigh I wonder how much longer it will be until I can get back here. It feels so much like home.
