We are planning our first Disney cruise on the Magic in September of 2006. My DW got addicted to pin trading our last trip to WDW this past February.

Are there opportunities for pin trading on the Magic? If so, I can only imagine how much she will be on Ebay in the next several months buying pins!

I can't speak specifically on the Magic, but on our 4 day Wonder cruise this past May there were opportunities for pin trading all over the place -- at least one scheduled event each afternoon. (Not to mention plenty of pins for sale in the shops on board and at CC!)

I believe there is trading every night at 7:30pm to 8:30pm in the Atrium. On our 3 day cruise it was mostly kids. We had pins to trade, but no one to really trade with. I am hoping it will be different on the Magic.

And there are plenty of pins to buy!!!

My father read (in the Passporter I think...) that the cast members are no longer going to have the lanyards around their neck for trading... Has anyone else hear this or experienced this? The cast members in the shops always had lanyards on in the past....

That is how my DW got her good pins! She bought the cheap ones and traded for good ones with the CM's. She only has a few, but had a lot of fun exchanging with the CM's.

I just got off the Magic from the repo cruise and the cast members had lanyards and were trading.

The pin trading with CM is just suspended during flu season. Our kids LOVE trading with the CMs in the shop.

We went the last weekend in Jan 2005 and that was the first cruise that trading was suspended on, so NOV should be just fine. We just got back from the 3 day WONDER.....not only did the Cast members all have lanyards, during evening pin trading they now have a BOOK with about 300 pins and you are free to trade all you want. There were lots and lots of special pins in the book. My advise, buy cheap on ebay and trade!

We just returned from a 3-day cruise on the Wonder. Pin trading was "alive and well". I was quite surprised because I had heard that trading had been suspended as well. Cast members around the ship had lanyards on, although it didn't seem that many people were trading. Between 7:30 and 8:30 every night, people gathered in the atrium and traded from the pin book and with each other - some of the ship's officers actually participated during the last night. They had some better pins and they were fun to talk to as well.
