Pin Trading

Does anyone know if they have "starter kit" pin trading kits available onboard? What do they cost? I think my DS6 might enjoy doing some pin trading (we've never done this before, so we don't even have any to start with).

I think they do. You usually get a lanyard and a couple of pins. You may want to purchase a few extra pins just so he has a few to start with. For trading, make sure they are ones he won't mind parting with. Let him start out by trading with CM's since they have to trade with you. Be warned, pin trading is very addictive!!! I know from my own experience.

Go to the Disney Store online and you can purchase pins. Alot of times they have them on sale and you don't have to like the ones you purchase because the kids will be trading them. We bought them on line cheap before we went and the kids traded for ones that they liked. You can get collections that have 4 or so pins in them. If they trade on the ship then I will have to go online and purchase some more for them to trade. My husband made the kids a shadow box for them to put the pins in and they are hanging on the wall in their rooms. Makes for great memories.

we bought a starter kit in the store on board which contained a lanyard and i think 4 pins and it was $25.00...my son loved the pin trading..

Just a friendly heads-up--CMs onboard don't trade anymore. My Passporter mentioned that ended in Feb of 2005.

Regarding the CM's pin trading.....I had called DCL when that was first mentioned in February, they said it was temporary and would begin again, which hopefully it has. Also, we were at the Grand Californian just a few weeks ago in DL and we traded with the CM's.
