I have been to disney several times but only learned last year that you can trade pins. Is it too late to start collecting them? There isnt a disney store near me, so does it really pay for me to buy one pin a the park & then trade it with a castmember? Is it really FUN? :earboy2:

You know, it can be! If you are a trader kindof gal. If you are a saver...it will never work! I love trading and love talking to the CM's, but my DS8 trades and then keeps! I would suggest, though, picking some up on ebay, where they are much cheaper!

IT'S ADDICTIVE!!! Lots of fun. I agree with above post. Buy some on ebay first. That's what we did. Just educate yourself first, because you don't want to be buying worthless sedesma pins or buying pins for more than they're worth. You need to factor in shipping costs. Sometimes you can get a good deal on pin lots. Pinpics.com is a great website to find info on pins and what they're worth.
Or, just wait until you get to Disney. You can buy yourself a starter lanyard that will have about 4 pins I think. I don't remember how much they are. I think the average pin at Disney starts at around 6.00

How much are the starter lanyards, do you know?

Thanks!

Starter lanyard with 4 pins is $25 + tax individual pins now start at $6.95 and go up to $35

I suggest looking on e-bay and buying lots of pins, avoid anything that says SEDESMA or from spain. You shouldn't be paying more than $3 a pin on e-bay.

We started during our last trip and love it! We each got a starter lanyard and bought a few more pins.

I've heard the disney outlet store has pins for $2.99. We're planning on stopping by there and each get five to trade. My two year old is looking forward to starting his pin collection now.

dealsatdisney.com had lanyards (last years) for $2 last week. Really good deal.

I have an Ebay question - does it say on a post if the pins are sedesma pins or is there a way to find out? FI and I are trying to collect some of them to trade on our honeymoon but the whole pin thing is getting expensive.

Most of the sellers will state in the ad if they are Sedesma or not. If you are ever in doubt, send the seller an email and ask. I have done that lots of times but one time the seller said there were no Sedesma but when I received the pins, there were two in the lot. I contacted the seller and he sent me two replacement pins. Now I understand that Sedesma are tradeable at the park but that has bounced back and forth several times. On one of my trips last year, they would not trade the Sedesma but the next trip they did. Personally, I stay away from them. Alot of times you can look at the ad picture very closely and you can usually tell which ones are Sedesma. Also look at someone who is selling large lots of Sedesma pins and it will give you a good idea of what to look for.

I have bought many times from ebay seller harval1. He does not sell sedesma pins. most of his pins are disneyland which are still tradeable. I would highly recommend buying from him. The more you buy from him the less the pin.
