I've traded the dated ones with no problem. The only restriction is that the CM can't already have one on his lanyard if they are otherwise tradable. Usually the dated ones are sold in large quantities by the wholesalers. I bought a large lot and got bags full of identical ones. I just tried to "unload" them first and always have a few others as backups.
