Pin Trading

Last time we went to WDW my family had a great time pin trading. I am getting ready to go with a friend (no kids this time) and was wanting to know if pin trading is still going on and if it would be strange for two grown women to be pin trading. Also, I was planning on bringing some pins from a previous trip more than 4 years ago (maybe 5). Is this frowned upon? Maybe I should just plan on buying some new ones. Thoughts?

Adults pin trade without kids all the time. I am one of them.

Bringing back pins from previous trips is not frowned upon at all. If anything it's encouraged.

Pin trading is all about having fun with it. Which is also kinda the whole point of vacation.

I hope you have a fantastic trip!

Thanks, Spork24. I really didn't want to have to buy more pins ($$$). We had thought about buying some on eBay, but I am not overly confident about if they would be "real" trading pins.

Many on here will discourage it, they are often lower quality pins either collected from cast members or pins that didn't make the cut at the plant but some how escaped the melt down process.

They are 100% tradeable of they have the disney logo on the back, which most sellers will guarantee.

My personal opinion is go for it if you want to. Many of these same pins are already in the parks on cast member lanyards from the countless others who have bought bulk pins on eBay.

The only rule disney has is the disney copyright on the back, so it's your call.

Since it's acceptable to bring pins from previous trips, I think I will go with that option. We have a bunch and I have a handful of duplicates that will be plenty for me and my friend to trade. Thanks again for your thoughts!

I am a grown up who loves pin trading. I think pins from prior trips work best because they may no longer be available. I love to trade things that are different from what is currently in the park. I only wear what I am willing to trade but I have quite a collection after 8 years of annual trips!

I would say, not only acceptable, but actually more interesting.

My last trip, I had my traders (many of which are from my visit in 2000) and lots of people were stopping me and asking about my "cool pins" and where I got them and was I willing to trade them.

Ended up talking and trading with many interesting people.

My 8 year old son loves pin trading. However, we have told him that he cannot trade with other people in the park, only cast members as I thought this was the rule. Can you trade with other guests in the parks?

Yes.
Any guest can trade with any other guest as long as they're willing.

So happy to see...we are planning our first trip in five years. My kids and I loved pin trading but when I went on the Disney store website they only had a couple. I was afraid pin trading was wearing off. :)
