I'm sure this has been asked & answered a million times, but here we go again! :rotfl: How prolific is the pin trading at WDW? Are a high percentage of people doing it? Just some? I'm asking because I bought my daughters lanyards with the intent of putting their ID on them. Now I'm wondering whether I should be buying them some pins too. I'd rather get some ahead of time than have them freak out when we get there because "everyone else has them" and end up having to spend a ton of money for a lot of brand new pins at the park.

I wouldn't say that everyone was doing it when we went last year. I will say that my husband was the one in our family that participated in pin trading last year. The kids just had fun helping him look for the pins that he wanted. lol. It was pretty funny. I can say that it was a fun activity for our family and we enjoyed it. I don't know if I would do it just because everyone else was. It didn't seem that way to me at all. It was just a fun thing for us. Besides, we got to meet some neat people by doing pin trading. :)

Not "everyone" is doing it but I would say a fair number do it (myself included). I would recommend if you decide to pin trade to pick up a lot of pins on ebay or mousepinsonline.com. Pins in the park are expensive so the habit can quickly add up. My DS loves pin trading and won't part with any of his pins. So we have trade and keep lanyards. I get to wear the trade lanyard and I load up everyday with traders and he decides what we keep.

Mostly the kids love to look and know they can do it...trade that is. It is fun. I bought a bunch off ebay for $1.27 each with free shipping. You can choose your quantity. I bought 10 so each would have 5 to trade and then did another 10 later on. They are all pins that can be traded at Disney. It was the cheapest way to do it. Mostly they trade for me. I am a teacher and wear one every day to school. Kids love it. Good luck. It really is your choice but this is a cheap way to go. Hope it helps.
:)

Thanks for your replies. I've been leaning towards getting them pins, but I guess I just wanted to feel justified in doing it. Now I can tell my dh that I didn't want them to feel left out of all the fun! :thumbsup2
