We are new to this, sorry if it's a silly question, but... do you trade Disney pins only? Or also pins form your state, etc.? Thanks!

These have to be official Disney pins. Nothing from other places, nothing from your state. Disney only.

My suggestion for your kids is to NOT wear their pin necklace all the time. If they don't have the locking backs (which are spendy but worth it) then they are likely to lose pins. We have the kids keep them in their fanny packs and put them on when they see someone to trade with.

DS5 had a great time with this last summer. I would second the vote for a more secure backing for your pins. After nearly losing one coming off the Great Movie Ride, we grabbed a bag of the rubberized Mickey Head backs right then and there. Lots of great designs out there and - for us, found that it really was a great way to bring our son out of his shell and interact with the CM's around the world.

What kind of pin backs are you using? We have the black Mickey head backs but I find some of the heavier pins and the ones that have a battery pack seem to not fit well with those. Any suggestions?

They sell locking backs that come with a very small allen wrench. We bought these after our DS lost his first pin. It can be some what of a pain, but the CMs are very patient and understand!

We love pin trading!

We wear ours all the time because we find that they are great conversation pieces. We have met some really nice folks that way and once got to totally make someone's day. A teenage girl admired my Club 33 pin and was wistful about hoping to maybe someday get a chance to go. I pulled a pen, mints and tiny notepad that they gave me at the club and gifted them to her. You have never seen a 16 year old so excited over a ballpoint pen. :)
