Does anyone in Canada (Ontario) have a good source for purchasing pins to trade in the parks? My 7 & 9 year olds like to buy (cheap) pins before they go so they will have something to trade with.
Jim

We love pin trading too. We received a 20% off e-coupon during Cmas for Disney Store, so we used it to buy pins. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for DS coupons. Ask friends and family to give your kids DS gift certs as bday gifts. Watch for sales. CM's check that pins are official Disney pins. Good Luck! Sandra

I was at the Disney Stores (Vaughan Mills, Fairview, Scarborough Town Centre, Yorkdale) over last weekend and got some great deals on pins ! They were going for 3.99 and 4.99 and the stores were having an additional 25% off 'sale' as well. I picked up around 30 pins (for CM pin trading at the parks). They may still have some on sale, go check in the 'discontinued' boxes. You may have to look around, but they have them in most of the stores !

Good hunting, Gabe

I just got some off e-bay. By the time I paid exchange and shipping they cost about $3. each.

I wonder if Square One DS has the same deals as Vaughan? hmmmmm. S

The Eaton Centre Disney store had the same pin deals (3.99 and 4.99 with 25% off) so I would assume they all do!

Oh...I did not know you can trade the pins which are available at the Disney Store. How much are they at Disney Store Square One?
They do not look as nice as the ones at the parks but if I can trade up at WDW - then it is worth it.

As long as the are official Disney pins you can trade them!

We bought tons of pins at Square One DS today....they were $4.99 with an additional 25% off = $3.74.

Trade them for the $9US pins in WDW!

Years ago DS had a HUGE pin sale....89 cents! We traded up in WDW....lots of CM pins and unique pins that you can't get up here.

Enjoy pin shopping! Blessings, Sandra

The last couple trips I've bought grab bag lots off of Ebay with really good luck. I just take my time and really look at what the seller is offering, and more important what their feedback rating is. The last batch I ordered ended up costing me less than $3 per pin once shipping was figured in. Also make sure they ship by mail as you will not get as dinged at the border. Usually Canada Post just dings you a $5 surcharge and the taxes, no duty. Much cheaper than UPS or Fedex. The 50 pins we got were all official Disney ones, no Sedesma, plus some were so nice we ended up adding them to the "Keep" pile, so that's not always a good thing!! :rotfl:

DH got a whole bunch of ebay. Bought them in lots and I think they worked out to be about $3 each. The CM pin laynards are for their location not the actual CM so they will trade anything official. They don't care where it came from or what it is worth. We traded lots of our ebay cheapies for some really nice pins last month.

Has anyone actually traded pins from the Disney Stores here in Canada?

A cast member at the store in Barrie told me that you cannot trade them in WDW. Is this true?

I don't think that person knew what they were talking about. I have seen pins from Japan, Disneyland Paris etc. Plus do you really think the average CM would know which pins came from TDS in Canada. And for that matter would they care? ;)

I just picked up a few in Hamilton at the discount

As long as they say "Disney" on the back you can trade them!

I traded a pin for a Disney Paris pin in WDW. It's lovely! S

I purchased 20 pins from DS Barrie when they opened and had no problem trading them in October. I was able to get a very nice collection of rare pins from the cm's and had no problem trading them. Just before X-mas DS in Barrie had a buy one get one free sale and I was able to purchase a four pin set (snow white set) for $10.50 CDN and got another set of four pins for free. That is just over $1 something each. I will use these for my June trip.:cool1:
