I'm a newbie at this and want to start this new hobby. I need starters information. Please help! I have no clue where to start. Lead me to the water.

* Decide on a specific themes.
* Peruse www.pinpics.com
* Save $ for your next Disney park trip. You will spend LOTS on pins. ;)

I don't know if DisneyStore.com still has their pin sale going. Check there too. They had some great buys as of just last week. :Pinkbounc

Welcome to the most addictive hobby that is not illegal, immoral or fattening. :p Maggie

I picked the theme and I just figured out how hard it is to find the pins I'm looking for...Sheesh.

not hard at all! really!

just save $500 between now and your next park visit!
(seriously!) and invest in a lanyard & a pin bag...
then start getting pins you like, buy 2 if they are LE's
you can trade them on pin pics later... but get the
cheapest pins you can ($6.50 on the regular rack pins)
to put on your first lanyard to trade with CM's...
you can also get the inexpensive sets that they have
on the disney store website right now... I think that
ends tonight tho... then you can trade pin for pin with
CM's to jump start your collection...

what are you collecting? Fab 5? Pooh? Sorceror?
princesses? What will your obsession consist of?

You can also bring some pins back to trade on our
trade board here at the DIS...

we'll help you along... but for now... save that pocket
change... take my advice... don't spend beyond your
means... pay CASH for pins and STICK to your THEME!
don't have too many themes because then it gets
REALLY expensive...

if you are an ebayer... also try DisneyAuctions.com for
pins you can get there... they are much higher end
than the pins you get at the parks (for the most part)
and they are about twice the price, unless you get
some of the PINS specially priced buy it now pins...

you'll figure it all out in time... feel free to email me
or PM me if you have any questions...
also, once you get some pins... check out my list
of wants and traders on pinpics under ID Goofy4Pluto
I have many BASIC pins that might give you a start!
Right now I have alot of Toy Story if that is your thing!

Above all, have fun, welcome and good luck!

I'm also new to pin trading. I am getting excited for my next trip and have begun collecting via eBay. I've decided I'm going to collect attractions/park pins for my favorite rides (which is pretty much all of them!), (with a special focus on MGM stuff with the logo) and character pins featuring the Witch from Snow White and Maleficent (my favorites when I was a kid).

Standard eBay warnings apply - make sure you watch out for the shipping especially. You may get a pin for $2-3, but if it costs $4 shipping you aren't getting a great deal.

I only have 7 so far, but I can see how addicting it's going to be when in the parks. Next I need to get a lanyard, but I think I'm going to have to wait until the parks because I want a Disney one.

Good luck! It's great fun!
