I just posted this on the Pin Trading Section so I thought I would put it here too. I work at the Disney Store at Ross Park Mall in Pittsburgh and we got the info yesterday.....Pin Trading Starts in the Stores on TUESDAY!!!! The times will be 7-9pm Tuesday evenings as far as we know. It is the same rules as the parks. Characters, Attractions, and the same kinds of pins are NO NO's.

I am hoping to change my schedule and work on Tuesday night so I can be the "Trader" the first night (checking that when I get in today) if I can't then I suppose I will take my pin bags and go in and just see whats going on and how many people show up.

So if your in the Pittsburgh area head on over to the Ross Park Mall and Bring those TRADERS...We have wanted this for a long time so lets have fun with it in our own areas now that we have a real chance to do this outside the park, I hope people are excited about it and keep it going........

Yes, Nat, this is the roll out of pin trading in ALL of The Disney Stores

COOL!!!! Ya think they will have a PTP???

Character, attraction pins, and the same kind of pins are no-no's.

What does that leave left to trade exactly?

Donna

I'm confused......

It is the same rules as the parks. Characters, Attractions, and the same kinds of pins are NO NO's.

What exactly does that mean, since any pin is tradable at WDW except duplicates on ones already on lanyards.......??

I think Belle was a little excited to share the news! I think what she meant was that all Disney pins are tradeable including characters, attractions, etc. Duplicate pins are no-no's - meaning you cannot trade a pin that is already represented on the CMs lanyard. I was reading the info last night and it appears that the rules parallel those at WDW.

Have patience with your TDS CMs - they are probably not as pin crazed as the rest of us and may be struggling to understand all of the rules this Tuesday night! There will be no mobbing allowed LOL :D

Very busy working and getting ready to go down. Yes we got the info about the pin trading. I think I have been elected. THINK no I know it.
Managers want to know if I want to bring in my pins. What do you think. ???? Have a lot of doubles.
I don't know if this is kosher????
Oct.24th WDW here we come.

But Sorcerer, I thought that guests mobbing the CMs was part of the game!! :bounce:

Are the stores using DL's pin trading rules or WDW's pin trading rules? Will enamel and metal pins be okay?

Are the stores being sent a batch of pins to trade, or are they supposed to pull them from 100 years of Dreams series?

I have a suspicion that at my store there will only be about 3 of us trading, and we all have the 100 years pins so it has a possibility to not be very exciting.

Being the resident pin trader at the ABC store in NYC I was elected. I am too excited!!!!! I f I hadn't been elected to be in charge of this program I would have volunteered anyway.

It is going to be a bit confusing at first, but should be a lot of fun. I'll keep you all posted when information bacomes available about what is tradeable and what is not.

As I understand it the guidelines follow that of WDW. NO CM pins are tradeable....service, award, language, etc.

Linda

I could swear I posted those Disney Store Pin Trading Guidelines somewhere?

Hope, the wording of the DS guidelines follows those of the Disneyland Resort almost word-for-word. It is my understanding that the Cast Members will start out with the original eight pins from the DS 100 Years of Dreams pins on their lanyards. It is unclear what will happen in subsequent weeks.

Thanks James,

My Mom, asst. manager at our local DS had to pick this weekend to go to DL! At least she was able to get me Halloween DL pins yesterday, and I guess my cost of that is having to wait until Monday to find out what the DS communications all say :D

In responce to a couple of the posts above let me clarify.......The pins that aren't allowed to be traded are the same as the ones not allowed to be traded in the parks, we have all seen them if you have traded in the Parks. How do you describe them???? I think they look like metal pins that are "painted" for lack of a better description. They had pictures of "Untradable" pins the last time I was in the parks back in July.

When I said Attractions, Characters, etc. I meant those were allowed. I had said right before that SAME RULES AS THE PARKS. I would also hope that just because we ( I mean DS CAst Members) are the ones trading that people don't just assume we don't know whats going on with it. I have about 1000 pins from buying and YES trading in the parks and on here, and I know of a few other CM's on this board who have been made the "traders" at their stores.

I am sure that when this all starts so will the posts about how screwed up it is because of the Cast Members at the Stores. In reading these boards for awhile now there all all kinds of "experts" here, there are all kinds of people who HATE the auction sites and rant and rave about them but they are still using them, I have met several people from these boards who are wonderful people while at the parks, but on the flip side of that I have met people from these boards who (from reading these boards) would fall into the SHARK category.

With that said come on lets just have some fun with this one, everyone wants it so just have a good time with it and go trade some pins, it is a great way to let people who don't get to the parks as much as some of us to enjoy a little bit of it in their hometowns, that is what this is suppose to do, Everyone has their pins they wouldn't trade and that is fine but a great many of the pins that people are looking for are on the auction sites and they arn't all that expensive if you watch and wait.

Lets just trade, have some fun and see whats out there, maybe you will just happen to meet a great person who happens to have an interest in pins just like you do.:)

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night - I've been designated the trader in my store too! Unfortunately it probably won't last throughout the holidays as I'm also a Lead and it would be difficult to MOD and trade at the same time :D

An idea we're tossing around in our store to discourage mobbing me for the Walt/Mickey pin...we may put all the pins BACKWARDS on the lanyard, similar to some of the pin traders in WDW. We would only do this until the two W/M pins are gone.

We had a bunch of people get together after purchasing pins this past Saturday to do a little trading, so I'm anticipating that this Tuesday will be fairly successful with trading in the stores.

Boo Hoo and I am going to miss it. I was asked to work this tuesday night but leaving for WDW early Wednesday.
But will be the designated Pin trader at 353

I think this sounds like fun! I hope I can join in the trading tomorrow. Is there a time that the trading starts and ends? I hope some guests will trade as well!

I'm just wondering... where do the CM's pins come from? (The ones they trade.)

I've been meaning to ask, but always forget to. It seems that CM's at WDW come out with pretty desireable pins (e.g., rare/error) when they first start their shifts. Will the DS CM's get their pins from the same source?

Trying to fold my hands and wait patiently for the answers. :bounce:

Lynn-Marie - the TDS CMs lanyards will start with the Week #1 100 years TDS pins. From that point forward it depends on what pins guests trade to the CMs. Hope this helps! :D
