Hi,

I think my kids may enjoy "pin trading" in WDW this January. They are pre-teen/teen agers. I was thinking of getting them some to start for Xmas. Any great deals out there for these?

Ebay! You can usually get them in lots for about $1 a pin. If you get larger lots, you can probably even get cheaper.

We are taking DN9 with us in December and she is into pin trading. We have avoided it to this point with DS3, but we figured we better be prepared if his cousin is doing it. I bought him 20 pins ($20.50 on Ebay) and a friend brought back a lanyard for him. Since they are just random pins he can trade them out for things he wants without a lot of drama LOL. I think it will be cute to see what he tries to trade for.

I started pin trading this spring when I was there with my mom, dad and our two exchange students. I'm the only one interested in it, so before we left; I got like 15 pins off ebay for really cheap and then trade them for whatever I want.

I, however, don't use a laynard most of the time. I can't wear heavy stuff like that on my neck, so I put them all on the straps of my backpack. When I do use my laynard, I only have like 5 pins on it so it's not heavy at all.

I was able to purchase 3 starter sets on Ebay. I went ahead and purchaed the sets that included a lanyard and were new in the package. I paid around $20 for sets that sell for $44 at WDW.

If you decide to purchase a lot of pins you might check the thread below and see if the seller has been reported as selling the cheap pins that are not good.

We've used mousepinsonline.com for the past few years. Great pins. Great prices. Reliable shipping. Never any problems trading in the parks.

I second mousepinsonline. We bought a bag of pins just for trading at a reasonable price for our 2008 trip.

OP please follow the link DisneyArk gave to find some good sellers on eBay. I appreciate the sentiment of not wanting to spend too much for traders but please be aware of scrappers and huge problem they create for other traders. I understand that not everyone cares and for the most part we don't either, but I do care about the hobby and don't want to see it fall apart. We have some good info in that link. :) Have fun trading! I have 4 traders in my family and it can get quite pricey.....LOL :) Go to eBay and do a search for Pinderellas_Castle (NO this is not me, I've just used her in the past and been very happy) she's got pins and lanyards for good prices and I've been happy with all my purchases from her. :)
