I'm sitting here playing with pinpics because that flippin' sniper has brought my day to an abrupt halt.
So here's a pintrader who has a list of pins for trade: Some really good ones, some pretty common ones, and the bulk right in between.
Well, I'd like to trade for one of the in-between pins. I offer him about a half dozen very fair trades. He says no thanks. Then I see his post on the diz trade board, and he says something like he'll entertain any offer, but it must be for something on his want list. OK. So I look at his want list.
He wants over 700 pins....And there isn't a pin on there that isn't a hard trade. Not one rack pin, not one reasonable LE. All CM pins, VHTF event pins, and impossible pins. And I'm not kidding, all of the pins are in these categories.
Well maybe I'm reading too much into this but here's the picture I get: This guy will be happy to accept any trade as long as it's in his favor. And why would this guy need all these really hard pins? My guess: To sell them.
Hard to imagine, but I'm beginning to consider myself a veteran pintrader.
I guess being a cynic goes hand-in-hand with being a veteran.
I look at his want list and the only common denominator I can
spot is VHTF, e.g. $$$ value.
If someone asks me what I collect? I can easily respond that I collect princesses, full-figure Mickeys & Minnies, and attraction/resorts/parks pins.
I guess this guy's answer would be that he collects pins that can be sold for $20 and up on eBay.
Take a look at my want list! You know what you'll find?
I don't want 700 pins.
Yes, I want some VHTF pins. And some of the ones on my list are actually for my DS#1 and DS#2.
But, that's not the bulk of my wants.
I also want rack pins, and mid-range LEs, and lots of other reasonable pins.
I don't even want to trade with this guy. He leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Yes, I know. This is America. Anyone has a right to make a "dime." Well, this guy will have to find a different sucker.
