Pin Trading question

Hi!

We will be leaving for our first ever Disney World trip in 43 days!

I bought a bunch of pins from Disney Direct for the kids to trade when they get there. I don't know if it is just me, but these pins are huge! Some of them are too wide to fit on the lanyard unless I put them sideways, they have the two things on the back to attach. Do you think it will look funny? What do you do with a pin that is wide? They are able to trade these pins purchased from Disney Direct right? I hope so because I bought enough to fill up two lanyards.

Another question, do they sell mini pins? I bought a Pal Mickey and a Disney Sweet Heart Mini Lanyard for him, (it is the cuttest little thing) and his lanyard has 4 pins on it, but would like to get more.

I appreciate all your help. You guys are so helpful, you know everything! Reading these boards will make our trip a whole lot easier!

Thanks,

Jess

Yes, those pins are tradable. They're just very large pins! :earseek: Most pins aren't that large, but those are clearance pins from Disney Auctions, and their pins are larger than most.

I don't wear my lanyard, I just keep it in a pocket of my backpack, but I guess you could wear it any way you want to/are able. (I'm not much help with that, but I just wanted to tell you that they're tradable. :flower: )

They sell smaller pins but I am not sure what you mean by mini. They sell a lot of pins in the disney store at the marketplace and there is also a pin store there as well. You can check that out. CM's also trade all sorts of sizes and shapes of pins. So you might find one that way (just as long as you have one to trade with them)

Becareful and maybe get locking backs for the bigger pins dd was in tears after losing 2 on our trip We ended up getting her a little book that zipped up

I've seen other people mention pin "books". Can you tell me more about where you got yours, how much it cost, what size it is, what it looks like, etc.? Thanks!

I know there are some books, which I think are somewhat like a 3-ring binder (although probably nicer, and with characters or a logo on the front), but I'm not sure if they zip. Probably what people are talking about if they say that it zips is a pin bag. It's a bag with with a handle(s) and/or strap (varies) that has soft pages inside where you can put your pins. They're usually double sided, so that you can put pins on each side with the backs in the middle (it either velcros or zips shut). They have some sort of fabric sheet between the page (some of those have pockets that can be used for storage) so that the pins don't rub against either other. The whole thing zips shut, so as long as you don't loose the whole bag ;) , it should be harder to lose a pin.

Some of the bags are fairly big and heavier than others (and at the parks those cost around $38), but there are other smaller bags. I'm not sure if those are being sold at the parks, though. I just can't remember. I got a smaller one off of ebay (this was my first bag, then I bought a bigger one in the parks, now I need a third! ); it was this one.

It will fit a lot of pins, but is fairly small and light on its own. You could check ebay for that bag or a similar one. The one from the parks was this one:

They should definitely have one like it, whether the logo is the same or not.

Hope that helped!

I have put all of our pins (using locking pin backs) on the small black backpack I will carrying in the parks. That way the kids don't have to worry about the lanyards, which do get heavy and annoying at times, but they can still trade if they want to.

I got mine on Ebay for something like $9 for 24 backs (and 2 tools to unlock them). I know they sell them in the parks, but I don't know how much they cost there.
