Pin trading on the Dream?

Can anyone report about the current status of pin trading on the Dream? We were on the Wish last month, and one shop had a mystery box (filled with scrappers, and the cast member said the cruise line doesn’t replenish it), but no pin books or officer trading event. Hoping for pin trading as it used to be on the Dream!

I haven't heard if the officer pin trading event is back or not just that the gift shops were getting their pin books/boards back. I've had a lot of luck trading with other guests. Usually in the sailing fb group or on here someone will post gathering room numbers for people who put pin boards on their doors.

We do it and have a blast, usually there's like 10+ rooms on the list with boards.

EDIT: I will say the pin boards in gift shops are full of scrappers regardless of if you're on DCL or in the parks. Its really trade at your own risk. I'm a pretty avid collector so I know what to look for and I avoid commonly faked pins but not everyone really knows all that much about pins so keep in mind if you do trade on your door that you may end up with some fakes. We hung our pin board with what was left at the end of the cruise as home decor.

That is exactly how it was on the Fantasy a couple of weeks ago. Very disappointing.

We were also on Fantasy— only official pin trading was mystery boxes in one gift shop, but my kids wore pin lanyards and my daughter was given a bonus pin at BBB. I’m not certain we walked the whole ship, but we covered most of it and I’d say we saw about 20-30 pin boards across all passenger rooms. By the second half a lot were empty and some specifically had signs saying “sorry someone took all our pins”— I know Disney has cameras everywhere and I guessed they decided it’s not worth the “bad customer experience” reviews of being busted for pin snatching.

FWIW, I am very laid back about scrappers. My kids are just for fun collectors and we take pins we like or themes we’re collecting and don’t worry about it. I don’t intentionally acquire scrappers but as long as the pin doesn’t look clearly cheap or flawed, I let them take what they like in trades. I would guess a decent amount onboard are scrappers based on a quick glance with the naked eye—then again, I’ve pulled pins right out of the box/bag at Disney gift shops that have minor chips or look cheaply made that I’d swear are scrappers. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh, just great - stealing pins.

It was probably the same rotten kids that were running the hall on the Fantasy, deck 5, banging, knocking and kicking our door. We called security who told me that they were aware but every time those kids saw security coming they ran. Don't know if they ever caught them, as this was all the last day and into the late hours of the last night of the cruise.

Honestly, I was never so happy to get off of a ship.

Oh wow, that would have driven me crazy. We love the extended balconies on deck 5, but couldn’t get one for this sailing and ended up on Deck 6.
