I hear that some people buy pins/laynards on ebay before they hit the park. I saw one site that had the starter kit for almost fifty dollars; how much is that at the park? Should I buy pins online and trade, or start at the parks?

How large are the options at the park? We love WALL-E... would the parks still have those pins or would they be gone by now?

We also are going to get AP passes since we'll be there a week. I heard that AP can get pins for buying food at the restaurants. Do they still do that plan?

I like to buy my pins for trading on ebay before I go to the park as you can get them MUCH cheaper. You can get various size lots for as little as $1.50 - $2.00 per pin. In the parks the cheapest pins are two for $10 in the mystery packs. I do usually buy my lanyard in the park because I like to see what they have, but they are also readily available on ebay.

I would think the parks are still carrying Wall-E pins since it's a new movie.

In general they do still have the AP pin with food purchase. However, the pins are only available while supplies last. Most of the restaurants that offer it have a sign posted with the details, but you have to ask for the pin, they don't automatically give them to you even if you pay with your AP.

You must be VERY careful when buying Disney pins off ebay. Many friends have gotten lots of pins that are fakes. It has been difficult lately to find reputable pin sellers on ebay, sadly.

They have pins that look VERY similar to the real deal, but are fakes.

I am not saying there are no good ebay pin sellers, just that several very avid pin trader friends have run out of ebayers to buy from due to getting bad pins from the sellers they used to trust.

I bought 40 pins for $100 from a non-ebay seller for my recent trip to WDW. Every pin was legit, only 1 was damaged. I was able to trade it with a CM who said she would take it and put it out-of-circulation.

I think the starter sets in DLR cost about $25-$30 if I remember correctly. That usually gets you 4 pins and a lanyard.

I personally like buying pins beforehand so that I can trade them while there. Pins in the park are quite a bit more expensive than what you can get online (they start around $7.95 each I think and go up from there).

Anything that I buy in the parks I can't bring myself to trade. If I bought it, I obviously wanted it. Anything you buy off of ebay or any other site, you might not want to keep them all, and don't feel as bad when you trade them, IMO.

Yes, read the reviews and the product descriptions carefully. So far I've not had any problems with fakes (knock wood).

mousepinsonline, has always worked for. They gave us some pins that some CM's wouldn't trade...While others looked at us like "Why wouldn't they trade them?" look on their face and traded just fine.

I joked to Jade that there should be a clear policy for CM's...lol

There is. See bullet 2 and 3 in this document, found on Disney's site.
