Pin trading in DLRP

I know they do pin trading in DLRP but do they have cast lanyard pins like they do at WDW?

They do - there's isn't as much trading going on at DLRP as WDW but it's still fun.

My daughter has some doubles cos she bought a neck thing which had 4 pins 2 of each.

We just came back Friday and the CMs didn't have anything that you couldn't buy in the shops But we were expecting that, and even though we took our lanyards, didn't trade once.

It's all about looking around - there are a lot of ones the same on CM Lanyards - but the fun is in looking. Just ask to see their lanyard - the best way I do is it by wearing mine and then showing them this - they then know I want to see theirs. Those lanyard sets of 4 with 2 the same are to start you off on trading - you'll find many CM's have ones from other sets on their lanyards. Most people just do it to collect pins of their favourite attraction or character - others do it to get hard to find ones - it's all good fun.

That's a starter lanyard and the pin doubles are there for trading.

My DS's have traded lots of times with CM's at DLRP, when we've been in shops or around the park, CM's have often just asked if they would like to trade. DS did once trade his Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head pin with another guest at DLRP and has regretted it ever since, so just make sure your child knows the rules, once it's traded that's it.

Pin trading etiquette means that you have to remove your own pin and trade hand to hand, I seem to remember reading that you should tell the new keeper a little bit about the pin too.

we just got back from a week at DLP and dd really enjoyed lots of pintrading. She was approached once by a girl with her mum, and several times cast members offered to trade with her, but mostly she approached cast members with blue lanyards in shops ad around the park.
loads of the cast members had hidden mickey cast lanyard pins and pins from the USA. She quite likes seeing ones from the shops though as I won't generally buy her the ones that cost 6 euros or more. i prefer to buy the multipacks of 5 for 18 euros or bring doubles from a big pack of traded pins from the states.
pintrading really boosts her language skills and confidence.
about half the cast members in most stores wear the blue lanyards.
there is a tiny pin store in disney studios.
there is a pin trading board that travels around the stores but it's hard to catch up with it.

Most CM's have pins on that noone wants. They all have the same ones. I didn't trade this time, cause they didn't have any good one. It's a shame!!! I think it was a lot better a couple of years ago.

These are the 5 to a pack pins. It is normal that these stay longer on lanyards. Last june i managed to trade over 80 pins in the parks over 4 days. All different and mostly ones I didn't have or ones friends from the US had asked me to look out for. Trading is there you just need to look for it. I spend much more time wandering than riding which is certainly why I have more luck than others.

Actually we were in one of the shops in the village and a woman who worked in the shop (I guess this is a cast member) flashed her neck strap with pins on at my daughter and started speaking to her in french! My daughter just stood there saying I dont understand you in a quiet voice and I said I am sorry she speaks english! The cast member then spoke to her in english, I didnt realise it was a potential pin trading opportunity!

My troops have a great time pin-trading, seeing it as a perfect opportunity to interact with CMs.
They are definitely not collectors though as I've seen a pin traded from one CM only to be swapped with the very next one

Do they not have the same rules as WDW then? Normally you can not trade with a CM unless you are trading a pin not already on their lanyrad.

I think it meant each CM had the same pins not they had the same pin on one lanyard. This is enforced in Paris. I have only seen it not enforced when it has been very little children trading.

yup - the CMs are sometimes far too nice to littl'uns.
dd is 7 and sometimes they offer to take a pin they already have.
she is a pedant and gives them a mini-lecture (nicely).
it's a shame that lanyards can be clogged with the fab5 and prilla pins but inevitable as they are half the price.
we buy traded ones from the states but then you have to worry about scrappers. to avoid trading scrappers we read up on pinpics and don't trade LE pins.
we honestly did see some great pins to trade for.
i loved the muppet show cast lanyard series but dd didn't like them.

I have often seen CM in the Studio's have several WDW & DLC pins but I never had my lanyard to trade with them.

A lot of the CM only pins are the american cast specials like the hidden mickey series. Pin trading is great at DLP and I have been trading for a couple of years there and will carry on as long as I keep going. Quite a few of the pins are also open edition ones that can be bought anywhere.

We did quite a bit of trading in DLRP in Dec 07....it was a little disappointing as there were lots of really basic pins on the CM lanyards that you could buy in the stores but we also found that the Studios park was MUCH better for trading in. We picked up a lot of the Cast Lanyard Series that has been released and re-released in WDW and DL...

We managed to meet with the Pin Trading Board one evening - DBF got a fab LE mickey pin from there
