Pin trading ? for a newbie...

We are going to Disney in 2 weeks. I really don't want to purchase 50 pins prior to our visit, not knowing if they will enjoy it. What is a min. amount of pins that I should buy that would still make pin trading fun for them (ie; how many pins for each child).

Are lanyards a must? Where can I buy kid friendly ones before going (does not need to be Disney, just child friendly).

We went for the 1st time and my girls were 4 & 6 and did the pin trading, I bought 50 pins and found out that I should have bought more! They loved it and found some really great pins that they wanted to keep, by the end of our trip they couldn't really decide on what pins to trade becasue they didn't want to give any of them away. We also got lanyards from disney shopping pretty cheap once I used codes for a discount and then free shipping. I don't know what you are looking for, these were princess ones, they wouldn't have accepted non-disney ones. Mouse Pins Online has some really good prices on the grab bags of pins, I paid roughly $1.75 per pin, if I remember correctly.

8 each when we got there.. and yes.. as soon as they have all ones that they really like they will be frustrated and want more "traders". We came home with about 15 each. Lucky for them grandma was there with her credit card.

For our 2nd trip they had a lot more, (about 25 each) because they had gotten many for holidays that were purchased from ebay and trading boards.. and we still bought more in the park. (those were for me though)

How old are your kids? Mine started at 5/8 and loved loved loved it. We got lanyards on ebay too, but you can get some at Walmart and sometimes even Dollar Tree.

If you buy a big lot and your kids are not into it, you can sell them again and get your $$ right back. The cheapest pin you can get in the park is $5, and you can get them for less than $2 each before you go.
