I bought my son a lanyard and a few pins so that he will be able to do some trading on our next trip. I have never been involved in pin trading so I do not know the 'rules of etiquette', how he goes about trading with CM's etc. Someone help please.

Hi Tricia,
Trading with CMs are pretty basic. When you’re at Disney properties (parks, resorts, etc.) you’ll see cast members wearing lanyards. Go up to them and ask (nicely of course) to see their lanyards, and if your son sees anything he likes then he could trade with the CMs. The pins you are trading have to be cloisonné and Disney copyrighted on the back. Other than that.... HAVE FUN!!! :D

Ps: forgot to tell you that at Magic Kingdom we’ve seen some CMs wearing 2 lanyards each, the pink one is Kids only lanyard. Which means that only kids could trade from that lanyard.

Thanks for the update, cseca about the "kids only" lanyard. I think that's a great idea for the kids, and I hope they continue it until September for our next trip so my 4yo can have some "special" trades. We were there in February and they weren't doing the "kids only" then, and now I'm looking forward to our trip even more now!

Tricia: It's pretty easy to trade once you get up the guts for the first time, but you'll be a pro at it by the time your vacation is over! There's a post at the top of the board about FAQ's. That will give you everything you need to know! Have fun!
