Pin Trading Cancelled Recently?

A question about the wipes: Last spring we went on our 1st ever cruise, on the Dream. Before entering the buffet to eat, we were handed wipes. We presumed that they were to wipe our hands off, and then throw them away. Were we suppose to use them to handle the serving utensils? We didn't see anyone else doing that.

I think it's great that they're handing out wipes. I think all eating areas should have hand-sanitizers available, and not just on cruise ships.

You were expected to throw them away after wiping your hands. I have wondered about how the menus are cleaned though.

I asked our server recently, and he said he had the dreaded duty that sailing to wipe all the menus down for our rotation. Then insert the correct menus. One night one of menu pages were switched, so I called him out on it. He grabbed it, switched the pages, handed it back, and indicated it's a monotonous duty, and I didn't see that error. :lmao:

He said they are wiped down every night.
Perhaps he heard it from the bus driver. ;)

I use a wipe on entrance then again after handling the buffet tools prior to eating each plate full. Wipe dispensers were at all the drink and food stations. Very convenient.

No illness for me this time aboard, nor 8 days later. :cool1:

Also the chicken wings in O'Gills used to be out. Not this time, had to ask. No signage either. Available in the evenings. They said to reduce transmission of ???? Not Noro or Ebola.

Just for fun, I'd like to point out that Norovirus and Ebola are both viruses, not bacteria, so while antibacterial wipes and sanitizer may weaken the viruses, it won't actually kill them.... You need to be wash your hands with soap and water.

:thumbsup2

It's all psychological anyway. :p :lmao:

We got off the Dream this morning. We were very disappointed that there was no trading.

There was cast members trading with guests at the gift shop a few days ago. I did not see any organized area where guests where exchanging with guests. All buffets and drinks where help yourself. This was on the Dream 11/10- 11/14.

Actually, it depends on the sanitizer or wipe. I know there are definitely products on the market that kill both flu virus and Norwalk. I don't know about Ebola.

my question would be why use a new paper cup ( not even recyclable) to refill when the soda machine is a "push button with your fingers" type and nothing but the bottom of the cup touches the machine?

That is why I use my knuckle and not my fingertip.

On our past 2 cruises we have set pin trading dates and times once we looked at the dates for the Officers trading. We have found several people willing to sit and trade. If you are on your cruise meets you can set something up that way. Just a thought. Have fun:confused3

We have a cruise scheduled in January and I really liked trading with the officers last time. I plan to email Disney to make it known that I like pin trading and would miss it on our cruise. If upcoming cruisers request it maybe they will work it back in the schedule.

Because people do touch their cups to the spouts either by accident, or not paying full attention.

We are on the Dream 12/12-15. Were really looking forward to officer trading night because it is our first disney cruise. I also heard whether it happens or not has to do with the current media hype on illnesses......with the latest Norrovirus news I don't see it coming back anytime soon if there's truth to the correlation of media hype and cancellation. :(
