We're taking the 2 girls (10, 5) next month for their 3rd trip (4.5 days) - we've never done pin trading before...the 10-yr old, in particular, is very excited at the prospect of interacting with the CM's and coming home with new pins. I've bought a few on EBAY just for trading - we have 10 altogether now.

My question for you pin trading vet's - how many pins is a good number to bring to trade?

Thanks

Well, that's a VERY difficult question to answer.

I enjoy pin trading. I spent $50 on 40 pins to take with me to WDW for 8 days. I traded all of them AND bought more while I was there.

Your girls could really get into it and trade with every CM they see that has a lanyard. Or... not.

You could always take what you have already bought and if you need more, buy them there. There are a few box sets in the pin shop in Tomorrowland that have 6-7 pins in them for around $30, making it about $4 a pin.

Pin trading can be a lot of fun (and very addictive) if you really get into it.

That is hard to answer. We have 4 in our family, 2 are major into pin trading, 2 are so so. The 2 that are big into it can easily trade 25 pins a DAY, those 2 always run out. Our last few trips on our AP's I took about 200 pins.....we do have some left but a lot got traded......so yes, it was very easy for us to trade 50 pins a trip. BTW, those trips were 4-5 days long. :)

As others have noted, it's all going to depend on how into trading your children get. It may also depend on how attached they get to pins they've just traded for. I've heard of some kids that trade pins they just got simply because they like trading and other kids who trade for favorite characters/movies and don't want to give those up.

As the hobby can be very addicting and expensive, I recommend setting a budget for pins and then telling each child how many pins they can have to trade.

I am a very "casual" pin trader. I only had about 5 pins to trade this past trip (we were there 7 days). I did buy a few more to trade, but I would think that 10 pins are enough for a start.

I kept trading to get the ones I really wanted. Sometimes is it just fun to trade with CMs to chat with them.

I had so much fun doing it this trip, my DH and DS12 decided they wanted to trade too. DH became obsessed really quickly...all he could do is look at others people's pins. It was hilarious!

Just have fun with it!

Just Like Everyone Said That Is A Very Difficult Question To Ask But Like Someone Said If You Need More You Can Always Buy More

We took 35 on our last trip and were running low on them before we left...just depends on how into tradeing you are.
