Pin Trading Age??

My DD was 8 when she started, now I had to get a lanyard because she ran out of room!!!

My son is 4 and I am thinking of getting him started on this idea. Do the regular Disney stores carry the lanyards?

I've gone to every Disney store in my city and all are out of lanyards. Was told by one CM that they haven't had any since summer. A CM at another store told me they had sold the last ones a few weeks ago and that they went fast; its was somewhere around $4 for a lanyard and 2 pins. I was kinda sad I missed out on the great deal but as far as pins go, they have a few sale-priced in the stores. Lock, Shock and Barrel from NBC in a 3 pack for 9.99. I also got a 4 or 5 pack of A bug's Life pins for the same price. Hope that helps!

As for OP's question, for our upcoming trip, my DS7 asked to have a lanyard with pins. He remembered having one that was given to us on our first trip in 2006 but we did not do any pin trading. We were new to the whole Disney experience! He was excited to find out that this time around, there will be some CMs who will only trade pins with him!

We just got back and this was our first experience with pin trading for my 3yo and 6yo boys. I bought 100 pins off ebay for trading (didn't care what they were since we'd be trading them), we probably needed only 60 of them them. It started slow the first day and then they really got into it. I helped them find the CM's wearing pin lanyards and then they got to look at them and pick whatever they wanted. For good manners, they had to say "May I trade please?" each time. I wore the lanyard that carried the pins, and I had a few in my bag as well. My 6yo wanted to wear his own lanyard after trading for 3 days, but my luckily my 3yo didn't care to wear one (nor did I want him to wear one). They really enjoyed it!!!
