I recieved a pin from disney to my email. I called and wanted to use it and realized it had someone else's name on it. They would not honor it, Anyone else have this happen? Why won't they honor the PIN for me? So frustrated! I wonder if I call tomorrow someone different will give me a different answer!

The pin code has to have your name or someone at your address to be valid for use. If it has someone's name in your household, they have to be coming on the trip with you for you to be able to book it.

Somehow my email got attached to someone else's name and I have gotten multiple offers from Disney for that family. No, I cannot use them. It's a shame because this family gets every offer that comes down the pike and they have no idea that there is a PIN attached to their name!

This happened to me not too long ago with a great PIN offer for my October dates (large % off of room).

The pin e-mailed for me was for someone in a completely different state!!

While the CM was very nice (and after checking with manager), she did state that I was unable to use it due to the address not matching and people abusing pin code offers that were not for them in the past.

I told her (very nicely) that I realized it wasn't her fault and would like to speak to a supervisor to express my extreme disappointment with their marketing department (or something like that).

A few minutes later she came back on with a manager's approval (the second manager she had spoken with) to use the PIN.

I was able to book the 3 rooms I thought I was going to need.

Of course, a couple of weeks later the rest of the party decided to stay offsite :headache: so we didn't even need the rooms.

At no time was I upset, loud, or rude with the CM as I knew that she had absolutely nothing to do with me being sent a PIN that didn't match my address.

I don't know what on earth has happened to cause such an extreme mix-up of e-mail addresses though!!

I had this happen to me too.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the pin because the name/address didn't match the family they had on file with my email address. I forwarded the email to the supervisor I spoke to at their request to have the other family removed from my email file.

Lucky for me, my husband was emailed the same offer the following week so I was able to use that pin instead.

This year, my 9 year old nephew was mailed a pin. When my sister went to book, the cast member was surprised to find out that a child was mailed the discount.

Makes you wonder how they chose who gets the pins and who doesn't.

Not entirely true. Couple years back we took the inlaws with us. I get disney mail to his name ALL the time. Emails included. I got a pin for Free dining. I called and they added it to my package without question. Last name matched, but first did not.

I would try calling back and try another CM. My friend got a 40% code and used it for him and then gave it to his sister to use for her family. He told me to try it, so I called and said I received a code in the mail and gave them the number. They let me book it no problem, they never even said it wasn't mine pin.

Well, I called again and no luck! She said the pin had to be attached to my name! I'm not sure how much more it could be attached since my name is my email address! Ticks me off, they should honor this, since they sent it to me! She did tell me I could always hope for my pin to come!:headache:

I think I would create a new e-mail account with YOUR information. At least then you would have the potential to get something in your name in the future.

Also, log into your Disney account with your e-mail address & make sure all of your information is correct on there.

If it is, then call back & ask to speak to management & do as previously mentioned - make sure they REMOVE that families name from your e-mail address. Stay on the phone with them until they update your information on their end in the computer. Obviously front line won't be able to do that, but a supervisor should be able to help.

Also, did you ask the person on the phone to check under YOUR name? Sometimes there are PINs with someones name that you never receive via e-mail or postal mail. But the CM can find it when you call in underneath your name.

Because people abuse this codes they got their policy. They reserve a specific number of rooms that will be a discount so if they give rooms to people with no pin code they take the risk people that got it might not have any rooms left. Sign up for the free DVD usually pins will follow.

It may upset you and understandably so, but this is their policy. It must be in your name or in the name of someone who will be traveling with you. Doesn't matter that it came to your email or even your postal mail address, it still must be in your name.

Before our May 2010 trip, we had a pin attached to our address but not our name. DH had called to see if we had any pins and they did find one in my Dad's (or maybe my brother since they both have the same first name) name but our address and email.

It was a Free Quick Service Pin and they allowed us to book our reservation with it saying that because it was our address attached to it, then only us could use it. We had called back to see if it could also be applied to my parent's reservation and were told no. It didn't matter that it was under their name. Because it wasn't under their address, Disney wouldn't let them use it.

It was probably for the best since we were actually surprising them at WDW (reason why we didn't add their room to our reservation for free dining). They did book under the Free $500 Giftcard promo but saving on their dining would have been a much better deal.

I've received the DVD, the cruise DVD, I'm an annual passholder, signed up for every Disney email list I can find online, and visit (including resort stays!) frequently... and I've never received a PIN!:confused3

I think Disney just knows they have me hooked. :rolleyes1

Just a quick update: They applied the pin to my reservation for me!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: I am so excited! Emailed the customer service, attached the email and they called me with the changes!! I am so glad they decided to honor it!

I never noticed until I was ready to use a pin and it would not go through when I typed our name a mispelling. They left the second to last letter out. If I put in the miss spelled way it worked.

Who did you email? I ALWAYS get pin codes to my email addresses for my BIL and SIL and just figured I couldn't use them. I got one for a time period I can actually go to WDW so I'd love to use it.

I have gotten a few pin codes and used them, but the CM always asks me who Ricardo is. I don't know how many times I have taken the name Ricardo off my reservations. This past April, we checked out of the YC, and Ricardo was on the reservation to stay 3 more days. We found this out when we checked in. It took almost an hour to clean up our tickets and reservations. I told the CM, that this was like the 3rd or 4th time that name was attached to mine, and numerous CM's told me they had taken care of it, over the phone and at front desks. I looked at my account online and there is no Ricardo.

:scared1:, Seems like Ricardo likes trying to vacation with you and your family:rotfl:. That is sort of scary in a way though:eek: I hope that they have cleared that up once and for all:)

A few years ago we took our parents on their first trip to Disney. We paid for the entire thing. We had a few people and ended up needing 3 rooms.

Well when booking the rooms Disney told me that I needed the name of who was staying in the room (over 18) because they couldn't put all the rooms under my name :confused3

So we had 1 room under my name---1 room under my moms name and 1 room in my SIL's name. My reservation...my email address.

To this day I get pin codes to my email address in my moms name and in my SIL's name. Heck they get so many pins it's not funny. I've probably gotten 1 to every 3 they get :confused3

Well the first time we were heading back down there I tried to use a pin they sent me in my moms name---Nope.

I explained the situation to them and they said "Sorry" doesn't matter.

So I asked about having their names removed from my acct and again was told it couldn't be done.

Drives me bonkers!!
