Pin Locks or other suggestions

Hi!
I use them on my pin vest for pins I'm not trading, just showing off. They work well. It's going to be a pain when I will need to wash the vest and take the pins off. I wish the locks were longer though. Right now I use a hole punch on plastic 35mm film cans to make spacers that
I attach between the back of the vest and the pin lock. This keeps the point of the pin from poking through and keeps the pin tight. I suppose one could cut the points off but that damages the pin and probably affects tradability.
I've been told the locks were originally used by radio control modelers on their cars and airplanes so you probably can buy them at a hobby shop too.

Our friend uses the pin locks all the time and swears by them. He uses them for his lanyard, clothing, even his winter jacket (thick lined suede).

THanks for the replies. Are they hard to take off (ie if the kids are doing a lot of trading and we are standing there with a CM)?

Sandy, Disney is now selling locking pin backs at all the usual pin places in WDW, I bought a pack, but they are pricey, $9.00 for a pack of 20. They do work well though, you would probably have to help your girls get them off, as they're a little tricky. Hey, we'll be at BWV too when you are!

Not horrible when you count we lost about 3-5 pins last trip. Though it will be a big one time investment 3 girls x 25 pins each ...ouch!

I guess maybe I should call merchandising and order them before hand

Thanks again,
Sandy

HBC...look for my green DIS pin on my backpack. (We'll be easy to spot 2 ladies with 3 DD's ages 2 1/2 - 8)

Hi Sandy!
The Cheappins locks are not hard to remove normally but you need the wrench that comes in the package that you also used to attach them. I am not familiar with the Disney locks. Cheappins might be cheaper per lock at $3.58 per dozen, 2 wrenches included plus shipping.

The rubber backs are pretty good but you have to check for a tight fit. Active kids will still run the risk of pin loss. Pin locks are a pain to remove with someone watching you try and undo them and the wrench is easy to lose.
