Its an option set by the seller called Change end of item notices for unsuccessful bidder preference.

End of Item Notices for Unsuccessful Bidders - Sellers Only

When you sell items on eBay we send most unsuccessful bidders an email telling them that they lost the item in question. We send this email 24 to 36 hours after your item ends. The email is designed to increase overall bidding on eBay and to increase the number of bids you receive as a seller.

The End of Item Notice contains a section of similar items designed to re-engage unsuccessful bidders and, thus, benefit all sellers and bidding overall. If, however, you believe the feature does not meet your needs you can opt out of the similar items list. If you opt out, bidders who bid on your auctions will not receive links to similar items, nor will they receive links to your other auctions. Additionally your items will not appear in the "similar items" lists of other sellers.

If you got the email it means the seller cares enough to tell about other item available if you lost theirs.
