Pin Codes & CM confusion

I received a post card with a PIN and when I called the number on the card to apply the discount to my reservation I was never prompted to enter a PIN. It was the same system as the 407wdisney number. I had to give the CM the PIN though beofre he would apply it.

I just called to try and book using the wonderful 40% code - What a deal!! BUT, they are checking to make sure the code is associated with your address. I have NO stinking codes associated with my address! No discount for me.
I don't know if it is because we go often, although we haven't been back since Sept. 2005 or because we USED to be DVC members. I ordered the Vacation planning kit to share with a friend and there is a discount package listed on the back cover for 40% off Dining. There is no code because it is a published booklet available to everyone. Even though this isn't the "free dining" we hope to come out for September it is better than full price. The CM advised me to go ahead and book and if "free dining" comes up they can adjust the ressie. He also said if room only discounts come up they will apply those and the same is true for ticket discounts. I am not sure how all this will work, but I will take his advice and book now, and worry with details later.

I WANT A POSTCARD!!!:sad2:

I WANT A POSTCARD!!!:sad2:

Okay, I'm a nervous wreck!! I just tried to make a ressie using the code and the pin given and he said it didn't match up with my name!!!! So, he said I'm sorry and that was it!! I'm trying back tonight!!

I'm reading less and less of people actually able to book it now and more and more people saying the Disney reservations is saying no can do without the 15 digit pin code.

It looks like they are cracking down on this now and trying to limit this to those who got the pin codes.

All numbers will go to the same call center, especially if the number that one is dialing is busy. Last month I called the regular number & I ended up with Magical Gatherings.. she explained to me that while there may be different nubmers for different ressies, they all come into the same center.. they just jump from one line to another.. while you may be thinking you have to have the CM for that number or the others will not know is not true. They are suppose to all know the same info.. since the calls jump.

Good to know. I just use the 800# because you can be on the phone for a while before you get a hold of anyone and I don't feel like paying long distance to call them.

Reguarding the 40% dining, since there isn't a code/pin with it and it is public, I think you are just looking at an advertisement for the Disney Dining Plan...they advertise this as "save up to 40% per person on dining".

Thanks for pointing that out. It isnt a 40% dicount off the dinning plan itself; it is an advertisement saying if you purchase the dining plan you can save up to 40% on ating while at Disney. Man, I just can't win!! :sad1:

Thanks again for the clarification!

I never rec'd anything in the mail or by email, but when I called on 2/7 and asked, "Does my account have a Pin # for 40% off?" The CM checked and said no, but to keep calling back because they're added daily. I called today. 2/8 and the CM said "Let me check your account." Then he came back and said, "Yes, you do have a Pin Code attached to your address."

I specifically asked if I needed a postcard or email and they said "No, because the offer is only good if it has been assigned to your account in our system."

So it's not a bad thing to call and check, and you're not cheating the system if you don't have a piece of paper or email in hand. I don't know the specifics regarding the person you were replying to, but it's very possible to not have a pin on paper, but have one on your account and get the discount legally.

The Disney CM at reservations, as well as a Guest Relations CM suggested that I call once a week to check for something better going forward too. One went as far as to say it would be suprising if a better deal didn't come out for August-September because it's a slower time.

I have no problem with calling to check if a discount offer has been assigned to you; however, the impression I got from the other poster was that they were trying to use someone else's PIN number.
I just tried to make a ressie using the code and the pin given and he said it didn't match up with my name!!!!
When I read the above statement, it appeared to me that the poster was trying to use a PIN that belonged to someone else. If I misunderstood and they were just calling to see if they had been sent their own PIN number then I agree that it is not a bad thing to check to see if they had something attached to their name.
