We have gone to WDW for the last 2yrs the 1st week of Oct. Year 2008 was our 1st year to go so I didn't know about codes until after I booked our vacation with our local TA and then I found some Disney forums including this forum and found out about pincodes. 2008 after booking there was a 40% off code floating around on the forums and I called my TA and she was able to get it applied to our reservation. That year I never did get a pincode thru email or snail mail nor did I get a bounce back offer at our resort like others were talking about. Last year when we were talking about going back to Disney the 1st week of Oct. 2009 I was calling Disney to get quotes and getting more info on the dining plan which we didn't do the 1st year and was told that the day we had planned on arriving was the day after the free dining ended and that if we came the day before which was the last day of the free dining that free dining would be extended throughout our stay, which I gladly got on the phone with our TA and booked the vacation. From the time I booked until up to the week we left I did recieve small pin codes offers but nothing better than what I had. Vacation ended and I haven't recieved any pin codes:confused3 I have even tried adding my itinerary and adding my husbands email in his name and did an itinerary for him checking that we would be staying off site like some have mentioned doing to get pincodes and still nothing.
Now this is what I am really getting to: In 2008 when we applied the 40% off code we had to change resorts from Pop to ASMU for it to be applied. In 2009 we were already able to get the free dining when we booked so didn't have any changes. This year if we decide to go which I am making definite plans this week and if free dining does happen to come out which we would definetly apply to our vacation considering our family of 4 is 10 and above, will we have to change resorts? We will be staying value so if free dining is QS we would be upgrading to regular dining but I don't want to book and then have to change resorts to be able to get free dining. Will we have to make changes to our dining reservations if we were able to get FD? TIA

We never get better deals in the Pins. Our TA hooks us up! :) If something better comes along, she adjusts our itinerary and we are good to go. She shoots me an email if we want it and we are done

I am not sure what an FD is... so I can't answer your question

There's really no definite way to make sure you get a PIN. Just because you took all the steps you did to try and get one doesn't mean you'll definitely get one. Some have had luck, others haven't. Also, keep in mind that there's a difference between PINs and general public offers. Your TA may have been able to get you a public offer as opposed to a PIN, which may be why you never received anything about a PIN.

As far as the need to change resorts, this only happens if the rooms/room categories allocated for a particular promo are filled up. If they are available at the resort you plan to stay at, you'll be able to get it...otherwise be prepared to make changes if you really want the promo. This probably explains why you needed to change resorts when you went under a 40% off promo.

As far as your ADRs go, those will be unaffected by adding the FD offer. :)
