Hi all :goodvibes

I have a question about pin codes and I really don't know where else to go to ask this, so I'll take a shot.

I keep getting PIN codes for vacation packages and last week I got one for a good discount on a room only for the time when I will be there in May. But, every time I try to click the link and use it, it says the name doesn't match. The code is sent to my email address, but the name used on the email is always the name of a family friend whose vacation to Disney I helped plan about 7 years ago!

Question: Should I be able to get this discount since the email they are sending it to is my email, an email I have registered with Disney.com in my name?

It is really annoying to be getting these emails when I cant actually use them-I mean, literally I'm getting them every two or three months. So, if I can't get it then I'd love to have the emails stop.

I think what really annoys me is that I go on a trip once or twice a year and this family whose name its addressed to hasn't been in the seven years since I helped them. :crazy2:

Usually the names have to match, but I would call Disney and see what they say. You never know! pixiedust:

Golly i would love love love to get a pin code, where are they comming from? I have tried everything under the sun the moon and the stars and cannot seem to get even one. Lucky you:cool1:

Me too. I called, and According to them, I can't use it because my name is not the name on the email. Even though this is not their email.

It really puts me out since I go so often and can't use the code. I wanted to rant a little but I bit my tongue. :(

That's the whole reason they are targeting Family "Smith" instead of you. Your family plans and goes to Disney regularly. They already have your money they need to entice the Smiths to come back and spend again.

You can call them and tell them to take the Smith name off your email and update your info.

There are a few. But the one out is for stays from June-August. We are going in May.

Sucks because we decided to go one day after the May discount expired.. :(

So, here I am again. I have emailed back and forth with Disney multiple times over this issue. When I contacted them I was respectful and hopefully polite. I got a letter back apologizing and then "nicely" telling me I should make sure my families' household was the only one registered to my account. I explained that I never registered this family to my account, and never booked anything using my address but it's possible (it being so long ago) that I may have used my email if my friend didn't have one at the time.

After several back and forth emails, I was told they would remove my friends name from my email for offers. So what do I get today? An awesome free dining pin code with an extention allowing me to book til 9/8. Well, not me, but my friend! Now I'm to the point that I'm getting irate, and I'm getting these things like every other week.

The sad part is that Disney doesn't realize that one of these offers could be the difference between my staying home this year, or spending an awful lot of money with them. Money is tight and free dining may have put me over the go/not go edge. :(.

I have had the exact same experience as you-- except with my father's name (who has passed away) and a family friend who traveled with us once, 10 years ago! I have called multiple times and each time they tell me that their names have been removed but I continue to get them. This has went on for two years.
Unfortunately, OP, I don't see the situation changing anytime soon.

That's just a mean trick to play on someone. Congratulations on your PIN code, call us now to book it.......NOT.....GOTCHA!

I will add a little extra info though. My mom sometimes get pin codes when we don't and I have always been able to use them. The reason is because my mom and I are in the same household and the pin code applies to anyone in that household. (Even my aunt who only lived in our house a few months was eligible). I actually had to book my last trip under my maiden name since "married Amanda" wasn't listed as a household member. They told me it wasn't an issue at all but they didn't want to risk the system rejecting the pin offer by changing my name during the booking process.

I hope they fix the problem for you so it doesn't happen anymore but it might take the system a few weeks to catch up to the entered changes.

My now husband and I have gone to disney 2x in the 6 years we've been together. The last time being 4 years ago. I on the other hand have been averaging an almost yearly (short) trip because of family members/friends that I travel with.

He gets the pins. My email address, but his name. I can't remember the last time a pin came in my name.

Oh and a side note. If I call the disney world phone number and say my name when the prompt asks, an address from years ago (that I never lived at but a boyfriend did ) comes up. When I mention it to a cast member, they have no record of that old address. So weird.

I know they're trying to woo my friends back on a trip and all, but yeah it is a mean trick! :(. I don't think I've ever gotten a pin code, so they must know I'm going to come no matter what!

At least I know I'm not the only one it's happening to....
