Hey Everyone...

for the heck of it I called to see if a PIN was associated with my name. Remind you, I haven't had no email offers or postcard offers. I have a reservation for AAA discount for the Contemporary Nov. 29-Dec. 8. Booked this about a week ago...never thought to ask for the PIN then since I wasn't aware of it. So yesterday I called and asked do I have a PIN? He said "yes"....lol...no further info. I proceed to ask, can you tell me what it's for...he said "when are your dates?" I told him...he said no the PIN won't work it's not for those dates"....lol...very limited to letting go of the PIN info....I proceed to ask him, can you tell me what it was for and when....He finallyyyyy said, "It's for August and 30% off". Took forever for him to just tell me lol.

Anyway...my question is that has anyone had any luck that they switch the offer for the dates they have booked already? I thought I would try and beg one of them to apply it to my reservation already. Not even sure why it's August either...most people I see using PINS were December...not mine lol...

Thanks for the inputs!

That's too bad it didnt' work for you, but is encouraging for us August folks who did not qualify for the 40%, nor qualify for the free dining (this would include the first 3 weeks of August). Thanks for posting.

It's maddening trying to understand how and to whom Disney awards codes, but the offer typically is for the times they want to boost occupancy. Even with the 40% off code that just expired, it was available starting 8/22.

May I ask what dates in August your discount is available for?

It is frustrating...only because I have seen SO MANY with pin discounts for December lol...

Honestly he just said "it won't work it's for August"...never gave me the exact dates. I'm going to call back today and try another person and see if they are more helpful.

Not that you need my advise with this, but...

Stay with it and keep calling until you get a CM who is helpful and can answer your questions-perhaps they can find you the discount you need for your travel dates. It's still early tho for December deals, but I know the anxiety of wanting to book it at the best price possible :) and move on to thinking about other things.

Good luck. I hope when you call back you are told your PIN is available for the time you want.

When I get some quiet time from my kids (surprise trip)...I will call and beg lol...

It was funny how that CM was so secretive with the PIN info for my name. Felt like HE was the one doing me a favor lol....I'm keeping my fingers crossed...another 15% would be a great discount...I already have the 15% AAA Contemporary rater for 259/night...not bad I didn't think.

Happy Planning

What a surprise that’s going to be! When you call, don’t beg – go into that phone call knowing you have a PIN and ‘knowing’ that PIN is going to work for the dates you want, they just have to plug it in for you! Sometimes, it’s all in your attitude, don’t you think?

Somewhat OT here – I work in HR and over the years I and have attended and sent many people to Disney programs that focus on strategic hiring, training and customer service. While in WDW or the Disney store it’s a rare thing if I ever see a Disney employee having a bad day, but I gotta tell you each time I call into WDTC, I feel like it’s a crap shoot on who you get, how they handle your requests, answer your questions or, and I think it’s the most critical component, the accuracy of the information you’re given. I’m certainly not saying it’s every CM you speak with, I know I have had many more good experiences than not, but if you get a bad CM, such as the one you spoke with that left you feeling like HE was doing you a favor, that’s an impression that stays with you. I’m always astounded that a company who teaches others the value of hiring/training appropriately and focusing on the customer, can fail so dismally at times.

Ok...so if you were me how would you exactly word the conversation? My reservation is already booked with a AAA discount...do I just say, "Hi, I am calling to apply the PIN associated with my name to my reservation?"

(can I give you my info to call for me..LOL...only joking)...seriously though, the 1st CM I spoke with to make the reservation with the AAA discount kept pushing me to take rooms I DID NOT want and finally towards the end of the conversation she said "oh i found one you wanted"...like it wasn't there when I first asked her? don't think so

The 2nd CM regarding the PIN info...just responded with one word answers with everything I asked him...and like I said by the end of the conversation I felt like he was the one doing me the favor personally.

Anyhows...I'm crossing my fingers...maybe I'll luck out!

No problem, Kim. Of course I’ll make the call for you!!! :cheer2:

I think I’d approach it like buying a new car with a trade in – keep the two transactions separate until you’ve negotiated the price of the new car (wouldn’t it be great if we could do THAT with Disney) and then discuss the trade in. Until you have an acceptable price on the new car, you shouldn’t look at moving forward to discuss the value of the trade in. Ok, enough about car analogies.

So, since you’ve already been told you have a PIN, let them know that and ask them to tell you exactly what it’s for: dates, discounts, terms and when it expires. Since it’s on your account, that shouldn’t be a problem for them to give you the information. If however, you feel the CM is stonewalling you with one word answers, is pushing you to take something you don’t want or isn’t providing you what you want (information or service), ask to speak with a supervisor. That’s ok to do. You are the customer. Whether they spend 3 minutes with you or an hour answering your questions it’s their job to do it.

I think you need to fully understand what your PIN offer is for before you can make an informed decision of which is more advantageous for you – PIN or AAA.

My fingers are crossed for you too. Good luck – I hope you get the dates/room etc. that you want. :thumbsup2

Ok update Monday morning....

called and now they say there is no PIN # associated with my name...I said but the other day a CM said there was...she said no there isn't...but there's time for a discount to come out....lol...can't believe I'm getting frustrated over this so soon...going to be a long 8 months lol...

Try code ZFZ.... Maybe that will work. I hope soooooo. Let me know if it works. This code worked for a friend of mine.

ZFZ expired on March 15th I believe. And by that I mean it had to be BOOKED by March 15th.

Just a reminder that only general public codes are allowed to be posted on the DIS boards.
