Does anyone here own a Honda Pilot or a GMC Envoy? I think these are the two that my DH and I have narrowed it down to but just cannot make our decision. Just curious if anyone has had a problem with either and or what they like best and least about their SUV. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

A Honda will likely hold its value better than a GMC. The Pilot consistanly ranks at or near the top in all sorts of SUV polls.

BUY AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Envoy is an excellent vehicle, great looks, handling, you won't regret your decision.

BUY AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm seeing as the Pilots are made in Alliston Ontario and I stand to be corrected but also at the Alabama plant they are probably as North American as an Envoy, just more reliable. Lot of G.M.'s coming out of Mexico too :)

Oh and to keep this on the Cruise topic do they have a "pilot" on board the Wonder and Magic or is the captain licensed to take the ship into all ports?
Cheers,
Grumbo

I don't have a Pilot, but I do have a 2002 Cr-V and I LOVE IT! I would go with the Honda. Mine has never been in the shop for anything but regular oil changes, and I have put 32,000 miles on it in 14 months. I would go Honda

VW Passat .....

great car, excellent mileage....

On the hondacars.com website, you can choose "compare" from the menu options and put in the model Pilot you are considering and the model Envoy you are thinking about. It will compare many many different measurements, systems, residual values, costs, etc. between the 2 exact models you are reviewing.

I am enjoying my Pilot. The DVD system is wonderful. The leather seats are comfortable, the storage is amazing...lots of cubbies everywhere. I don't always have all 8 seats full but it sure is nice to have when I need all the spaces. The seats are very easy to put down or up and can be reconfigured with one hand while the other holds all the bags I didn't expect to come out of the store with!

To make this more "cruise related," we'll drive ours to the port for next cruise we take....how's that?? Seriously, I drove mine on a long vacation this year and had no complaints from the back seat.

Good luck with your decision. Try Edmunds.com for good information about making purchases, getting the best deals, etc. They will have a lot of information about both the cars you are considering.

We are picking up our brand new Pilot tonight. I think a number of posts above reflect why we made this choice.

Also to keep it cruise related, we will be driving it to the airport on Friday in order to hope on board the Magic this Saturday!!

Pilot or Envoy

Envoy - 12mpg.

Pilot - 20mpg.

Camry Solara - 33mgp.

Of what great NEED is an suv? Must everyone drive a truck to be "safe?" The mid-east came to the States almost two Septembers ago and people still crave gas-guzzling vehicles. There are great problems with the ozone layer and our children's future is at stake. I just don't get it.

Sorry all, this is a real sore point for me...

Buckaroo's Dad...Sorry, I can't fit 7 children into your Solara. And before you ask, I usually have at least 5 children, and often more with me. So yes, it is a necessity. No, we don't have to car pool....but 4 Solaras on the road from school everyday would probably be burning more ozone up than my one ultra low emmission vehicle Pilot.

What station wagon seats 8 people?

PILOT! I have driven Hondas my whole life and then went American (In honor of Sept 11) and that lasted 6 months and then back to my honda. I'm American and VERY proud but I will not buy another american made car. They just don't last as long and hold no value. I now have an accord and would suggest the pilot.

we have a Chevy Trail Blazer , the same truck as an envoy
it is 2003 and it is awesome she loves it............. and i do to
but she drives primarly i have chevy pick up 1989

skip the honda go with Envoy

Well, I can make all the environmentalist CRAZY.. I drive an EXCURSION... I get less than 10MPG... But you know what they say, everything is bigger in Texas, and if any of you come here from the north, you will see LOTS of big trucks. Anyways, not to throw a monkey wrench in your plans, but PLEASE go TRY (just humor me..) a HYUNDAI Santa Fe. I KNOW, Hyundai.. We all think cheap, and trash. Well we drove one since we're trying to save our big bucks instead of feeding our giant SUV, and I actualy LOVED it. Good gas mileage, GREAT warranty, and great reviews from Edmunds.com Still don't like it's LOOKS, but it's $10,000 cheaper than the Pilot and even less than the envoy (depending on what kind of options you're looking at..) I've had 2 Honda's in the past and I can't say enough GREAT things about them, but the Santa Fe wins HANDS DOWN compared to the Pilot. Besides, What is UP with Honda and GMC, not giving a better warranty to back up their claims of great vehicles? I'm touchy about warranties. I'm in the midst of a Lemon Law claim against Ford. CHECK your warranties folks!!!

Honda all the way. I drive an Odessey Which will be parked at the port and love it. It actually drives like a car not a minivan. My husband lovingly calls it the loser cruiser but with 3 kids plus various carpool opportunites. It comes in handy. I had a Dodge Durango before this and the minivan is much more convenient. BTW I am very patriotic but feel the need to by the best car and it was made in the USA.

I have the Envoy and love it! It looks great, handles well, and I get about 20mpg on it (a big change from my Camry!)

We have it with DVD package and leather. That DVD player was the best investment EVER!!! I have no complaints and the Envoy comes with Onstar--which is a nice service. We got it free for the first year and I liked it so much I renewed the service.

Whatever you choose enjoy!

Wonderwoman1982,

Just went through lemon law process with Chrysler. They ended up buying back my Sebring. Beautiful car, but the transmission seemed to have memory loss and did not want to change gears. It especially liked to stay in second gear! So now I will be driving my new Honda Pilot to the Port.
