I have 3 girls and me of course. Is there a limit to how may you can leave at Guest Services? I haven't read anything about this in any of the books I have,is it something that they keep secret or have I just been missing it?
I think this is a great idea, better than keeping up with autograph books.

You will most likely not find any info in any books because this is not an "official DCL event"....it spread via word of mouth...recent posters have said they have been able to drop things off at guest service, but please do not leave too many items....they are doing us a favor by letting folks drop things off and I can image them stopping the practice again (which they have done in the past) or then charging for this service......I would not leave more than 2 or 3 items tops...

Remember, half the fun of autographs is the actual journey of getting them....they mean so much more that way.

I just want to add that I doubt DCL has dedicated staff for this and I would bet they just pull some staff from other areas to sign these things, which then takes time away from their other duties/free time. This is just my opinion and not meant to be taken as fact.

I dropped off 2 pillowcases in a ziploc bag with some colored sharpies at guest services the day that we boarded. I had no problem getting them to sign them, but I'm not sure how many they will allow. For some reason, I was thinking that I had read somewhere that they would allow 1 item per person in the stateroom, but please don't quote me on that.
I wouldn't have minded getting the autographs from the characters myself, but it being our first cruise, I wasn't sure when and where the characters would be, and I didn't want to have to worry with carrying it all around trying to make sure that we were able to get all the autographs. But I will tell you this, on the last night of the cruise, they have a little thing they do called, "Till We Meet Again", and all the characters come out and do pictures and autographs, so that might be a good opportunity for you in case you don't decide to drop it off at guest services!
HTH!

Unfortunately, when we cruise last May.....we were not as lucky! I stopped by Guest Services and was informed they quit doing this. We were pretty disappointed, just be prepared!

It was wonderful - and personally, I didn't want to get into the autograph game (waiting in long lines everytime you see a character just to have them write in a book that you have to make sure you have on you at all times, including a pen!)

We sailed on the 3/13 Wonder, and dropped it off the first night. Someone here gave me the idea of taking a picture - my girls dressed as Ariel and Flounder for Halloween - and transferring it onto the pillow case.

You have to put them in individual ziploc bags, with sharpies - I, too, used colorful ones.

My DH went and picked them up the final night - and they are charming! It was a goodbye gift to my girls, and they love them! (signed by: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip & Dale, Pluto, Goofy - AND ARIEL!!!!) They girls don't know how to read yet, but they know every characters autograph.

The people at Guest Services were very kind, and never even questioned it.

Good Luck!

Also, you can do a search on this forum under pillow cases, and you'll see many posts about this subject. There are lots of good ideas on how to do it.

If you have 2 for one room should they be put in the 1 ziplock bag or 2? Is it also a good idea to say if it is for a boy or girl? I don't think DS would be happy about having the princesses sign his shirt.

I put them in two separate bags - oh, and make sure you write on the bag your room number.

You could definitely write boy or girl on the bag - I was hoping the princesses would sign mine, and that's why I liked the picture idea: so the characters could see who it was for at a glance.

I had seen someone post that all the princesses had signed some of them, so I think it just depends on how busy they are on each cruise as to who actually signs them.

They are a big hit in my family, and the kids are so proud of them. It was the one thing they both wanted to bring to show the rest of the family - my 4 year old DD even brought it to her preschool to show everyone.

Just back from the 3/19 Magic cruise. I put my kids' names and room number on the label space on their Ziploc bags just as a further means of identification, but Mickey personalized his autograph to my son and Minnie did the same on my daughter's. I just wrote "any sigs appreciated, thanks" and we got the "classics", Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Pluto, Donald and Daisy.

We were on the Wonder 3/6 cruise, 4 night cruise. We had two staterooms. On the first night I left 3 zip-lock bags containing various colored Sharpies and our stateroom IDs with two pillowcases and one t-shirt each for each of the children (a total of three bags). The Guest Services personnel were so gracious. On the night before our disembarkment, I retrieved the items and the characters signatures were such a suprise to our kids. I must say that the personnel in Guest Services were so wonderful!

Sounds like a very neat idea. But for a dumb blonde Brit, can someone explain 'sharpies'?

Sharpies are fine tip permanent markers.

I just wanted to add when I dropped mine off about 1 1/2 years ago , I gave a phone card to the lady at guest services. She was absolutely thrilled and our DD's pillowcase looked absolutely wonderful - We actually used the pillow case that the kids deocorated at Goofy's pajama party -

I would really like to have this done for my DD's on our up coming cruise but I'm afraid to ask. What if they tell me no? That would be a rotten way to start out my cruise. I try so hard to make everything perfect. My DD's princess: would be so excited at the end of the cruise to have a signed pillowcase to take home but do I risk the let down. :earseek:

I guess I looked at it like, why not try? I knew it was a possibility, so I didn't tell the girls about it. It was more fun that way, anyway, because it was a surprise. And if they turned me down, it would only have hurt my feelings.

Yes, they may say no, but for all the people who've gotten them done, there are only a few who didn't.

Also, IMHO, the cast members are trying so hard to please everyone and make "magic" moments, that they really do want you to be happy. The person at the counter didn't even bat an eye when I dropped mine off.

Good luck!

When do you give them the card - when you drop off or when you pick up? Or should you have two in case the same person isn't there when you pick up?

You don't actually pick them up. They are delivered to your stateroom on the last evening of your cruise!

We picked ours up - in fact, my DH had to go back twice because they weren't ready the first time. They'll tell you to come back after 10pm on the final night.

I've seen a few people say they were delivered to their rooms on this forum, but most had to pick them up.

I've also seen a few people write that they forgot to pick them up, and had to write back to Disney to try to get them delivered at home.

These boards are so replete with information and the information cycles on itself so much that I can't find the original information as to the origin of this post.

Am I to understand that I should non-descriptly :rolleyes1 drop something (e.g., a pillowcase/t-shirt) off at the guest services desk in a ziplock bag with a sharpie and ask for autographs so that at the end of my 4-day cruise I'll receive said object as a GREAT gift for my 4yo DS?

If so, I'm in!
