Pillars of the Earth

I finally got the app downloaded onto my ipad. It is SO cool, the entire book, video clips, a family tree so you can keep track of who's who, and special links.

Now I'm off to reread by Friday!

Yeah for this thread! I love this book but had no idea it was going to be a mini series!

I think some folks will recognize the value of being able to see this series, and will find their way to either Starz itself or Starz Play on Netflix - offering this series should be a big boon for the network.

Just a reminder for anyone who has Direct tv that it will be on the 101 channel tonight.

By the way, I have a cousin who turns on premium channels just to watch her favorite series. She just ordered HBO for True Blood and will cancel it once the show ends for the season. I'm sure you can do that with Starz.

I'm cancelling my Starz subscription (because they cancelled Party Down), but I might catch it on Netflix Streaming. It looks great!

I saw the first episode last night. I wasn't immediately hooked to the show at episode one like I was on Tudors. But the story lines have potential and it kept me interested enough to want to watch the next episode. I'm kind of slow to get hooked on shows sometimes. It may take me a few episodes before I fall in love. So I guess my review was that it was good enough to watch again.

I agree with this. I do have to say I'm pretty surprised at how much they packed into a 1-hr episode, especially since they had to introduce all the characters. Some of the casting surprised me - Aliena, Ellen, William Hamleigh. Didn't immediately hook me, but I will watch again.

I LOVED the first episode ~ I am totally hooked. But I have read the book three times since it was released, so having it made into a mini series is a dream come true for me. :lovestruc I was a little surprised with some of their casting... I particularly expected William Hamleigh to be a big brute, and Tom Builder wasn't like I had envisioned him. But the casting for Jack was perfect. :)

I have a feeling this will be one of my favorite mini series, ever. I can't wait for the second part tonight. :thumbsup2

The second part is tonight? I didn't realize. Thanks for mentioning it. I will have to watch it. It sometimes will take a couple of episodes for me to warm up to a show. I think Tudors, Dexter, Six Feet Under were immediate hooks for me. But it usually does take me a couple of episodes. Heck, it even took a few episodes before I got into the Sopranos.

The acting was pretty good and I agree that they sure did pack in a lot on one hour.

The second episode was very good! I will watch the rest of the mini series for sure!
