Pilates reformer - anyone tried it?

I am so excited. I am starting on Sunday. Since the private classes are WAY to expensive for our budget right now, I will be doing group sessions. There will be 4-6 people in the group with the instructor.

Have any of you tried the reformer (machine?) What kind of results did you see and did you like it?
 
I have not tried the reformer but see many at our gym doing the 4-6 class size. I do Pilates and can say I love it! The reformer workout is definitely a workout and quite interesting.

I think you will LOVE it! I KNOW Pilates makes a huge difference in the trimming of my core. You will see results for sure.

I LOVE the pilates reformer. Unfortunately I can't take the class right now due to scheduling conflicts and I am really missing it.

The reformer did a few things for me. It helped me target in on muscle groups to help me strengthen them.

My flexibility is even greater

I stand straighter, hold my head higher and my shoulders back

And I told my husband that I felt like I had a really good deep tissue massage afterwards. I always felt great and really miss it.

:thumbsup2 LOVE the Reformer :love: ! It's an incredible tool for building core strength and flexibility. I am a certified pilates instructor and can promise you that if you focus on your breathing (VERY important in Pilates) and really work purposefully with each movement and concentrate on lengthening those muscles with each movement you will absolutely see results! Hang in there with it and give yourself a solid month of Reformer work and I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised with the results :). If there is any way you can add a mat class during the week you may find that the combination really helps you connect with your core.

Thanks everyone, for your tips. I have done mat pilates before (it has been awhile - that was pre-kids) and really enjoyed it and found the exercises effective. AmyBeth, I will take your advice and take a mat class each week. Looking forward to some results!
