Pigeon Forge for 2?

I'm looking into vacation ideas for this spring/summer. And I'm wondering about Pigeon Forge. We wouldn't neccessarily do Dolly World but I wouldn't mind seeing her Dixie Stampede. If we go what else is there to do for just 2 adults?

I know there's a Dixie Stampede in Myrtle Beach but after sending for stuff from there last yr, there really doesn't seem to be much else that interests us. My parents live at the beach so we can go anytime we want.

I've been twice with my sister. We like Dollywood! However, there's also the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Cades Cove, Roaring Fork Motor Trail, tubing, hiking, all kinds of shows, whitewater rafting, mini golf, lots of outlet malls, you name it.

Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg has always been our go to place for an extended weekend at least a couple of times a year. Before kids DH and I just liked walking along the parkway at Gatlinburg, poking around in some of the shops....there are really cheesy touristy trap shops and also some very unique little shops. Sit and people watch. Visit the national park. Ride the trolley up around the arts community loop. There is a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum if you like that kind of thing (we visit it almost every trip ) Guiness book of world records museum.....we really enjoy the Ripley's Aquarium. While we don't necessarily walk the parkway and shops so much now that we have kids (not so interesting to them) there is always something fun to do and some great places to eat. It's kind of our get away and relax/unwind kind of trip.....not go, go, go trip. There are all sorts of little museums/outlet shops, etc. in Pigeon Forge. I love visiting the Apple Barn Farmhouse it is huge with a couple of eateries, a general store, ice cream shop, candy store, orchard....it's huge. The Old Mill is also a nice little stop....there are some things off the beaten path as well if you don't mind driving around and exploring.

Be warned though.....check their events schedule.....if you don't like spending lots of time stuck in traffic and aren't really into car shows avoid weekends that say "rod run"....you can walk faster than you can drive.....and that's all day long......also tax free weekends are pretty heavy too and to be avoided but those generally only happen as back to school approaches.
