Piercings/Tattoos

I have 5 tattoo's - my husband has (lemme think.....) 7, I think. Maybe 6. he has his eyebrow pierced, and long hair (which is almost always ponytail'd) and Ive been fighting a nose piercing for a couple years now.

But the answer to your question is, I dont know.

I know some people might define him or I by such, but it's usually unfounded. He's a pretty amazing guy (and Im obviously as amazing! ;) ) We live in an obnoxiously expensive Chicago Suburb, travel a lot.... we dont use drugs, or drink.

I dunno.

I don't know either. I know people seemed shocked when they hear I have piercings. I don't think the Tattoo surprises anyone, though.
I love your swirly mickey tattoo BTW.:thumbsup2

I think I know more about that husband than I want to know. I DEFINITELY know more about the OP than I want to know. ;)

I always said never for me on tattoos. But who knows now? I am starting to soften on it. I am NOT a fan of the very young getting them, because they are more likely to plan it impulsively and it may later affect them in some way.

As for the outlaw on the thread, I guess you are upset that people DON'T stereotype those with tattoos like they used to. Tell me, how is a 20 year old supposed to get a tattoo "like the good old days"?

Thank you so much! I do too!!! :lovestruc One of my fav's - but I really love all my tattoo's!

Most people dont know what the swirley Mickey is, but JUST YESTERDAY at Trader Joe's, one of the guy workers there stopped me and said - I love your iconic Mickey Tattoo!! :cool1:

I've actually got that on my consideration list. :thumbsup2

That's just as hard as thinking up a tattoo. I don't know what I would get, but I know at some point I want something on the side of my ribcage. I hear it hurts like a 'B' though. :headache:

My DD22 just got one last week and she said it was the worst pain of the 3 tat's she has. Her first one was on the hip and her 2nd on the top of her foot.

I don't have a problem with piercings and tattoos, but I do think they are times when you might not like them to be on show, like job interviews and things like that. When DD was considering each of her 3, the only thing I told her was to make sure she loved the design (cause it's for life) and to have them in places she can cover if needed (she plans to be a teacher). She also has several piercings in her ears, 4 or 5 on one side and 3ish on the other I think.

we have a 6 month rule. Pick your design, if you still love it after 6 months go for it. Of course my kids have plenty of years yet before we really need to worry about that.

Any moms have a tattoo on their hip before they got pregnant?
I'm considering my 2nd, and it needs to be hidden, hence the location. But I'm worried it will stretch out and get gross when I decide to have kids later..
any experience?

I'm 40, and I have a tattoo on my ankle (and am planning to get one on my shoulder), more than one piercing in one ear, and had my belly button pierced till I had to take it out during my pregnancy (haven't gotten it redone because it hurt too much the first time. ). I have a professional job, my tattoo was visible in my interview as I wore a skirt, and has often been visible when I've met clients for the same reason. I attend church. I often hang out with some people that are a bit more conservative than me. I've never had anyone judge me but my mother. :rotfl: I've read a lot of opinions on this board though, and I'll be honest, some of them have made ME think less of those posters for being what I would consider narrow minded.

My husband has 2 tattoos and used to have several various piercings (he had to remove them for a job he used to have, and got tired of taking them out and putting them back in all the time). I think that his piercings caused judgment sometimes, but not the tattoos.

My child has no preconcieved notions of what "type" of person has tattoos and piercings, and I think that is a good thing.

Had *I* had a hip tattoo - and got pregnant it would have been bad - bad - very bad.

BUT I have a girlfriend (who is very very thin) who's tattoo looks the same.

i think it just depends on how and where you carry (and how much you gain)

I remember going to an all nude strip club a few years ago and there was this one girl that had just one piercing....my only thought was OUCH!

And yes it was YEARS ago(thats my story and I am sticking to it!)

She got her first one at age 20, and it was something she designed and planned for a good year. Her 2nd one is a frog, something she has collected for over 10 years, so she knew she would like it. It still took her awhile to get it because she saved her tips to pay for it, so probably 4 to 5 months. This last one has been in the works since right after the second one, so probably 8 to 10 months now. The only one I am worried about her regretting is the ribcage one, I'm afraid it may not look the same as she gets older and if she decides to have kids someday.

I would worry about that too.

THis is great!! So your Mom changed her mind? Where is her tat at?

I have wanted one for years. Over 10 in fact. I finally got my first one a bit over a year ago. Going for my second one next month.

I am a professional as well. My clients think my tattoo is pretty cool (those who have seen it).

My mom's tattoo is on her shoulder blade. I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds cute and like something she won't regret later.

Just want to clarify that I don't share the opinion of "ladies don't get tattoos". I don't think having a tattoo is any indication of a person's character. They are just not for me.

Tattoos have become pretty mainstream and acceptable in most work environments, but I work with a lot of older people who are not as open minded.

My current place of employment doesn't seem to mind Tattoos or Piercings... Although....they did put me on night shift :scratchin :rotfl2:
