Looking for reviews on Pier One Furniture. I've admired a few pieces but can't find any reviews, they don't have reviews on their own site. TIA!

We have a round dining table and 4 chairs from them. We've had them for almost 5 years and have been very satisfied with the purchase. The wood is solid and the design is good. We actually used the leaf in the table for the first time this past Thanksgiving and it was very easy to get in and out.

We had a dining table with chairs for 8 years. I loved that table. We only got rid of it because we moved to a smaller house and the other table fit better. Stood up Pretty well to the beatings the kids have it too. I'm glad I picked rounded silverware or it could have ended ugly

we have a bedroom set from them and have had it for nearly 9 years. Dresser, tall dresser, 2 nightstands, king sized bed, and bench in front. The only issue was a stripped screw, which was easily replaced. The set has been moved 3 times to different cities too..so we are pretty happy. We also had a kitchen table (glass) with 5 chairs for 5 years and no issues there. When Pier One kids was still around, we bought our DD's bedroom set and it's still in great shape. Overall, we have been quite impressed with the quality. Would definitely recommend!!

I used to work at Pier One.

Most of the furniture is of good quality. I have a chair and a few other items and they have held up really well. That said, I was not happy with how the quality was looking when I left. We were starting to see more items that I would never have spent money on. There was still good stuff (especially the iron outdoor items and the stuff like the wood dining tables and chairs), even great stuff. It was the wicker and the upholstered stuff I was seeing issues with.

So it depends what you are wanting to buy. Just look it over very well.

The Carmen sofa is one piece I've been admiring for awhile. What are your thoughts about that?

We actually carried that one when I worked there. Now, remember, I'm not there now so I am going off of what I remember from the product at the time. The Carmen Sofa was... okay. The nails were often not done very straight (and it was obvious on some pieces). We also had a lot of problems with the legs. They didn't seem sturdy enough and the holes to screw them into the bottom of the sofa were often not in quite the right location. It was a piece where one could be perfect and beautiful and the next one would have me throwing the legs across the stock room because the dang holes were off. There was no consistency in the quality.

Resurrecting this thread as I'd like to hear if anyone else has good or bad reviews of Pier One furniture.

Bought a bunch of stuff over the past few weeks. Everything seems solid...very heavy! One interesting note, the post office change of address pack includes a
20% off entire purchase at Pier One!

I've got a wicker chair I purchased from pier one 27 years ago-dh calls it 'the chair that will not die'. we were dating when I bought it and he thought that since it was so cheap it would never hold up. despite years of hard use it still looks great and is very sturdy.

a year ago dd asked to store a chair at our place that a friend had given her b/c he was moving home and since it was 'a cheap-o pier one chair' it wasn't worth it for him to ship it home. sure enough it was one of their wicker ones-purchased within the last couple of years. I looked it over and it looks like it will also last dd at least 30 years.

Do you know if it comes in the pack you get at the post office or it comes in the mail once you've moved?

I actually filled out a mail forwarding form. I got a whole packet of moving coupons in the mail with the confirmation of the forward.

We bough a large cabinet 3 years ago, not very impressed with the quality. We paid almost $500 for it and it's peeling in at least 2 different areas. I prefer the World Market. Their prices are lower and have very nice products in the same style.
