We are going for 5 nights in March. Currently have a Deluxe Studio booked at the GF. And currently have a waitlist for the whole 5 nights for a 1-Bedroom (which I know will be almost impossible to get).

Studio reservation is 124 points, booked using DEC UY21 Banked points. Currently have 176 DEC UY21 Banked points and 300 DEC UY22 points to play with. 1-Bedroom will be 248 points.

If I am able to book various nights in the 1-bedroom (seeing 2 nights now), one at a time, using the remaining Banked points and some of Non-banked points, if I get all 5 nights (merge them into one reservation), is there a way to make sure, when I drop the studio currently using the banked points, they can switch the points to use all banked points? I have enough banked from 2021 for the whole 1-bedroom reservation, but some are currently being used to hold the studio reservation.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

After you cancel the studio, modify the 1 bedroom reservation (keep everything the same). The system will then use the banked points from the cancelled studio reservation before picking up any current use year points. The points returned to your account will be the current use year points. If you wish, you can bank the current use year points, since the banking deadline for December 2022 points is July 31, 2023.

CAVEAT: You must cancel & modify 31 days or more prior to your arrival date. If you do this less than 30 days prior to arrival, you will end up with points in holding. Those will expire at the end of your use year (11/30/2023) and can only be used to book something 60 days or less prior to arrival.

Thank you for explaining this and mentioning the "31 days before arrival" rule. I will definitely be keeping an eye on that date (or a week before to make sure all is done in time) as that is when my waitlist expires as well, but now I know I need to make sure the 1BR reservation is whole by that time or keep the studio and cancel the remaining nights of the 1BR I had pieced together, or I could have points go into holding.

Also, if you get nights at the beginning or end of your stay, you can cancel the 5 nights and change it to. 4 etc,

The shorter the waitlist the better chance you have and since they don’t hold nights if they show up, you automatically will move up the line having less nights if that is what happens.

It can even work if you get random nights. What you don’t want though is a waitlist for a night you picked up because they will double book it.

Thank you for this Sandi! You gave me an "ah ha" moment. lol (Still learning since my in-laws added us to their contracts in March. They are in their 80's and don't know the ins and outs - just know how to book a room or cruise.)

My reservation is for 3/1 - 3/6. I was able to snag the night of 3/1 and 3/4 for the 1 bedroom. So, what you are saying is, Cancel my original waitlist that I have for the entire stay and create 2 waitlists - One for the nights of 3/2 & 3/3 and one for the night of 3/5. As these might have a better chance of coming through since they are shorter lengths of stay. And if I'm able to get any other nights by stalking, continue to reduce the days of the waitlist (while being aware of not changing anything the 31 days before). I will do that today and continue to stalk the website and see what happens.

As always, thank you for your help!!

Definitely adjust your waitlist! Those will have a much better chance.
There is still plenty of time…

And, now that you have two nights, you can continue to stalk for the rest.

Once you piece it, MS can be contacted and they will merge for you back into one.
