To say that it looks you guys had a good time would be an understatement! Do you know if you can get margaritas to go from The Ditch? Since we're traveling with a pack of kids on our trip, I don't think we'll be able to work in a sit down visit, but I would dearly love to get one of those babies to sip on while wandering through World Showcase.

Yes you can get one to go from the bar. I ordered one and took it with me. No problem! Enjoy.:goodvibes

You can order a drink at the Ditch whether you plan to go or stay awhile, and have it put into a plastic cup. The plastic cup is the key - while you can't take glass containers out of the pavilion, you can walk anywhere in Epcot with the plastic cup. If you're at a table and you want to leave and haven't finished your marg, ask for a plastic cup, pour it in and go. If you ask they will even put salt on the plastic cup's rim for you.

That is excellent news indeed! I believe that I will be trying multiple margaritas to go in July!

It took a week, but I just caught up! I am loving your reviews and your wonderful sense of humor. Sounds like your afternoon in the Ditch was a lot of fun. The Ditch is definately on my list for my trip in January!:cool1:

Ok, so I haven't been reading faithfully, but I've been checking in and out when I can. Y'all look so happy! Even if it is boozy happiness, happiness is wonderful!!

I am jealous. I didn't even know about this damn ditch place. and I have to wait until June '11 to go and see it. Poooor me!:rotfl:

Hope you are well, my friend. Hi to Big Daddy if he remembers me!:goodvibes

Thank you for the DITCH info and pics - WOW!!!!
I'll be there next week and me and my co-workers are planning an evening at Epcot, I mean with tequila :lmao:

Jumping on a little late but here nonetheless right?!

How the heck were you feeling later after all those margaritas?! I'm not sure about you, but my margarita was SSSSTRONG!!! Not that I'm complaining of course!!

It seems that everyone goes in happy, but comes out happier!!! :rotfl: Just the way I like it!! :thumbsup2

I am all caught up and insanely jealous! WOW! I don't know what else to say other than I so want to hang out with you guys down there or anywhere that alcohol is served :lmao:

Can't wait for the rest of the day, or at least what you remember of it ;)

Hi Chelle - thanks for reading! I remember parts of the rest of the day! ;)

Thanks very much for reading and your kind comments - glad you've enjoyed the reviews so far. If you like a good margarita then you definitely need to pay the Ditch a visit - it's wonderful! :thumbsup2

Hiya Sistah! It's funny how booze and disney can make for such adult joy, isn't it? The Ditch didn't open until the end of August last year so you wouldn't have really heard much about it unless you were looking for the information ... as some of us lushes around here were. ;) If you and Rob and Jay and I are ever there at the same time we're pulling a table at the Ditch ... good times!

We're doing good - just waiting for Spring to get here. Big Daddy remembers you for sure - how could he forget such a lovely lady?

Glad to help with any ditch info I can ... TDC Nala is the resident expert, though. :thumbsup2 Enjoy your trip next week and thanks for reading!

Hello there and thanks for joining the madness! It's never too late to jump in here ... I've still got 3-and-a-half days left to talk about! :rotfl2:

I was feeling GREAT after all those drinks but definitely on the border ... another one would have probably knocked me out. As it was ... we got some food ... and more booze ... and the evening roared along with all kinds of silliness. :thumbsup2

It sure looks like you had a great time in The Ditch Brenda!!!:rotfl2: My DH and I and two friends that we were traveling with went to The Ditch in January and had a great time too. The margharita's were fabulous as was the chips and salsa. We'll definitely be back for another visit.:thumbsup2

It's a great little place - good drinks and snacks! We're looking forward to getting back there in October. :thumbsup2

Cool...margaritas to go! :thumbsup2

Always good information to have! Test it out on your upcoming trip!

Tuesday, October 20th - Meeting Friends for Fish and Lots of F&W Snacking That No One Really Remembers

We were late. Those bright, seductive nacho hats distracted us ... me ... and Jay and I ended up being about twenty minutes late for our agreed upon meet with our dear friend Cass and her hubby Rob and their precious little baby girl Kira. Thank goodness they are such good people ... they already had a table overlooking the lagoon and they didn't mind that Jay and I showed up tipsy with friends. And Kira was a sweetheart ... don't tell anyone but she totally stole crusty Aunt Bendy's shriveled black heart.

The Jasons went off to nab some fish and chips and beers and returned with this:

This is what they're serving???

I was never so disappointed in fish and chips in all my life. I remembered these from two years ago as a generous serving size bursting with lightly breaded cod-fish goodness. These were over-cooked, slightly dry, and barely big enough for two hogs like Jay and me to share. Here's what they looked like two years ago just so you can understand our chagrin ...

I'm bringing out the Mouth of Sauron right now to ensure that the Disney Dining Dictator hears what I have to say. "Hey, Disney Dining Dude! Why must you keep messing with the good stuff? We may have been buzzing when we ate this but we were clear-headed enough to recognize that you have shrunk the portion size in an insidious effort to force us to buy another. You have done enough. STEP. AWAY. FROM. THE. FOOD. NOW."

Ahem.

Would you believe that prior to this evening that I had never tried a black and tan? I think this was Guinness and Bass Ale ... it was just as tasty as Chelsi and Jason had told me it would be.

Here are some pictures of our friends ... all lovely people that we've meet through the DIS! :thumbsup2

Eventually we parted ways - Kira was getting restless and we were looking for more food to soak up some of the afternoon's ditch drinking. We went back to France because it was close and they almost always have great food. First up we ordered another one of our festival favorites:

Braised Short Ribs in Cabernet with Mashed Taters

And then we got some dessert .. and more booze!

Parisien Cosmo and Creme Brulee
421.jpg

I don't recall much about the creme brulee but I do remember thinking that the slushie fruit punch cosmo was far too sweet for its own good ... or mine.

Our wandering ways then took us to Morocco where the others ordered some baklava, which I don't eat due to the pistachios or whatever the nut of choice is!

We stopped in New Orleans to mock the Sazzarazz and purchase some bread pudding. I think we may have even drunkenly offered to buy their bottle of Makers Mark but the CM wasn't biting. I thought last year's bread pudding was better but that's probably because this was near the end of the evening and it was a little too crisp and a little gummy. BLECH

We stopped for the Sister Sledge concert, already in progress, which tells you just how much Jay and I had had to drink because that's totally not our thing, even though I know the words to almost all of their songs. We had a ton of fun, though, standing in the back of America Gardens Theatre. Jason bought Chelsi a really cool night-time Halloween skull that glowed in the dark - they promptly named him Sledge in honor of the concert. And my Jason and I looked rather aimlessly for Guest X & Y, calling for DY-LON and GINNI-FLOWER in honor of the previous day's culinary deminar that featured chefs with funny names. We didn't find them, but we also didn't look very hard. :rotfl2:

We followed the concert with a visit to Germany, where I don't remember this at all:

Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce

And Sledge ordered a naughty sausage on a pretzel roll ... YUM!

Another Nuerunberger Sausage? Don't mind if I do!

The photopass people thought we looked alcoholically photogenic! :lmao:

All trips to WDW should be this much fun!

Once Illuminations was over we slowly made our way out of the park, where we decided that we needed more food. Coming soon ... a late night snack at the ESPN Club!

I enjoyed reading your posts. Our next trip will be during the Food & Wine Festival, so I'm looking forward to trying more of the F&W snacks this time. Your pics are great!

This sounds like the kind of day that everyone must experience at least once at Disney..or anywhere for that matter! Good food or not, sounds like a great time!

That Parisien cosmo IS too sweet! It's kind of more syrupie than slushie!

You all looked like you were having a GREAT time! :goodvibes

another great update, Brenda! Our Parisiene Cosmo was veryslushy and not too sweet. Interesting!

Thanks very much for reading - glad you've enjoyed it all so far. I will have a lot more F&W snacks in the next couple of updates so stay tuned!

It was one of the best days we'd had on vacation in a long time ... and I'm pretty sure we didn't barf on anyone's kids in the process.

It was definitely too sweet when we tried it on this evening ... could have been a function of everything else we'd had because I don't remember it being all that sweet when I tried it the week before.

another great update, Brenda! Our Parisiene Cosmo was veryslushy and not too sweet. Interesting!

Thanks Elin! Could have been because it was later in the evening ... our experience was that the best food and boozes were coming out of the booths earlier in the day this year. And we were pretty snookered, so that could have factored in. ;)

This should have come with a warning....I'm dying......:rotfl2::lmao:

I knew you'd get it, Kat! :rotfl2:

Sledge is a dirty little monkey! :rotfl2: Oh to have such a photographic display of the day a great friendship starting?! How lucky are we??? Especially since none of us can remember first hand everything thanks to the DITCH! :lmao:
Really it was a wonderful day!
I wish we had a snausage now!

Just caught up! I am a Tequila girl so the Ditch is the place my sis will have to pull me away from, and the snackies look yummy also.
I have just had so much fun with you while reading and catching up.
I am so lucky when my sis and i go alone to WDW because we always have many days like this. We will definately have to try and hang out with some peeps this time.
:woohoo:
