Let's talk DISmeet ... just a little. I can't say too much because I don't want to spoil anything but I'm very excited that our little meet between a handful of DISers has morphed into a minor happening. I think we may be looking at somewhere between 30 and 50 people ... that's awesome and a little scary at the same time.

Anyhoo, the night of the 17th actually seemed to work best for many of us so we're taking over the Beach Club's Solarium about 9:30PM that evening. Jay and I will be supplying birthday cake (I've always wanted a reason to order a custom cake from Disney) and everyone else will be bringing their beverage of choice to share around.

I think it will be a cakey-drinkie good time.

Jay and I are also contributing a bottle of Meeker Vinyards Fro-Zin to the party ...

Last year our friend Michelle gave us many thoughtful gifties when we met for dinner ... and now our cool lime-green DIS bag will be safeguarding the wine while it wings its way to WDW.

Lime Green ... it's perfect!

BUT ... we are also providing an alcoholic grab-bag of sorts at the DISmeet and today began stocking up on many alcoholic miniatures so that our friends can choose a little something to quench their thirst, 'cause Bendy loves her friendies that way.

We're halfway there ...

We're going to have them muddled up in our handy dandy portable trunk:

I love spending money ...

I just spoke with the nicest lady at Yacht & Beach Club Private Dining ... and I have placed an order for the custom birthday cake that all we fabulous friendies shall partake of on October 17th.

It will be a two-tier round cake ... larger layer chocolate with a white chocolate buttercream filling and the smaller round will be vanilla with dark chocolate buttercream filling.

I told them I'd prefer no fondant because it doesn't taste very good and is a pain to peel off the cake before eating anyway (besides ... the cost was getting too pricey with fondant). Asked them to make it festive and incorporate Goofy into it somehow and rather than saying Happy Birthday Brenda asked that it say Happy 40th Birthday ... that way it's like a cake for everyone who's turned 40 this year - or last or even next year! I'm a little leery of handing complete artistic license over to the bakery staff, but they know what they're doing so I'm just going to go with whatever they do.

They're even going to deliver it to the Solarium at 9PM that evening.

I can tell you that their chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream is wonderful, thats what we got from the Boardwalk Bakery for our wedding cake

Glad you decided to use foodie Homer as your mascot. He's travel-friendly and will represent the gorge-fest well! I LOVE the Chest of Booze! I just wish I could see the look on the TSA guy's face when he sees that in your luggage! LOL! I am utterly bummed that I will not be attending the B-day festivities... but my lovely stand-in, Jordan, will most likely be there if she has the night off. I'll have her call me when the party starts so I can toast with you all! The cake sounds delicious!

Hey lady! I'd mail you some cake if I could but since I can't you will just have to trust Jordan to tell you how it tastes.

I'm thinking of shipping a lot of that stash down to the BCV so that we don't have to pack it ... can't decide just yet. We're flying Southwest so an extra suitcase won't be a problem but I am a little concerned about TSA.

And The Bulk is going to be awesome for next month! Thanks again!

I can tell you that their chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream is wonderful, thats what we got from the Boardwalk Bakery for our wedding cake

This is actually coming from Y&BC Private Dining ... the same bakery that makes cakes for the Yachtsman I believe. I hope it's as good as I think it will be because I will really feel bad if I serve everyone craptacular cake.

I wasn't being mean about what you did for us, Goosie. I just didn't want anyone showing up that night thinking that they were going to be on the receiving end of keepsake nametags with pins and such. I don't have that kind of money ... I just spent it all on cake!
