Thursday, October 22nd - Boma, Food & Wine Snackeroo, and a Vodka Tasting!
First up ... breakfast with X&Y ... we'd talked up the morning delights of Boma and how it provides wonderful selctions for both the picky and more adventurous eaters in every family. And neither one of them had ever seen the Animal Kingdom Lodge so I really wanted to get them over there. They seemed to enjoy the buffet a lot and were suitably impressed by the amazing detail of the lodge - they really liked the savannah and talked about how cool it would be to stay there some day.
Sadly, for Bendy-girl, the Crohn goblin made an appearance and pretty much ruined the morning ... which is why I only have two pictures from Boma - my plate and Jay's plate.
Bendy's breakfast
Jay's much more interesting plate
We were all supposed to go to the Animal Kingdom together but there was no way I could go ... my guts were tied in knots. So Jay and I took the first bus we could find back to Epcot while the nephew and his wifey headed over to the AK. Once Jay and I got to our favorite park and I started walking around I actually began to feel better. We were just going to do a world showcase loop with no food when we noticed a doings transpiring in China. There were local news cameras and red carpets and lots of people wearing suits, so we called Chelsi & Jason and told them to meet us there to see what was going to happen.
I was hoping for some really cool news ... maybe something DVC related or something new for Adventures by Disney ... but instead they just announced that China was taking ownership of WDW in order to satisfy some of the US national debt owed them.

Just kidding. They actually were loaning some pictures to the China pavilion and we were sufficiently deflated by this less than exciting news (for us) to require some kind of pick-us-up.
Chelsi & Jason suggested the sugary little donuts from the Italian donkey cart. Donuts? How had we missed that??? They had a proper name ... something like bombalino ... but we were calling them Tom Bombadils and that is what's stuck in my head now. They were so good; each was filled with a different delight: chocolate hazelnut, raspberry, and apricot.
Bombadils!
Bombadils Again!
From here it only made sense to stop in Ireland for the dessert that was getting the most raves at the Festival: The Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Bailey's Ganache. This was really tasty but I did think the portion was a tad small.
YUM!
Chelsi & Jason had a Chopin Vodka seminar scheduled for the afternoon - ours was for the next day - but we decided to see if we could switch ours so that we could all go together. And the CMs at the Welcome Center were fabulous in this regard - they found our reservation for Friday, flipped it over to Thursday just like that, and gave us our tickets. Hooray!
To celebrate this happy circumstance I bought everyone some cheese to munch on while we waited for the seminar to begin. They were the same cheese selections that were being sold at the Mousecatch booth, but this came with some tasty fruit and crackers.
Cheeeeese!
As for the Chopin seminar, it was interesting but the young lady leading it was pretty inexperienced and basically spent the time reading off her cue cards. We were given a shot of Grey Goose, a shot of Chopin, and a strawberry balsamic martini made with Chopin.
Set me up!
I was surprised by how smooth the Chopin was compared with the Grey Goose - turns out Chopin is made from potatoes. If Gollum were here it would be his favorite spirit, ever, precious! The martini was very tasty, but my only complaint is that the video being shown had everything to do with Chopin's signature martini ... the executive or some such thing ... but we didn't get to try that. Supposedly the folks at Disney were worried that attendees were going to come reeling out of the Welcome Center only to strip off their clothes and wreak naked havoc on the World Showcase.
Don't they know by now that only happens when people spend too much time in the Ditch?
Stay tuned ... dinner at California Grill is coming up!
