The pix in that article look almost right, but not quite. It's odd. The nametag is also not what they were using last December (or Oct of '06 or Sept of '05), but since I think that author's kids are much older than the munchkin shown, it's probably just an old article.
December, bad angle but it's the best I got that trip.
DS was 40+ inches and just about 40 lbs.
October '06, DS could go on Matterhorn and was still rear-facing in his carseat, so over 35 inches, under 33 lbs.
And when DS was 16 months old, he was in the stroller once, and then we got to IASW so he got out and never got back in, LOL. this was before we had something stolen from a stroller so we weren't vigilant about not leaving things in the stroller, so it got use by hauling and storing our stuff.
This is just the back, obviously.
We've been MUCH happier bringing our own. Last Sept we drove, so we had our own, and in May we finally got brave and gate-checked the stroller, and it was good.
For anyone worried about the second checked bag, CHECK with your airline to see if baby/kid gear items like safety seats and strollers are actually considered "luggage". I know it wasn't with Jet Blue in May, and Virgin America clearly states that it's not with them, either. And it isn't with SW. So be sure to check with your specific airline BEFORE making decisions about bringing your stroller.
Unless you're staying at the Grand Californian, or plan to be in Tomorrowland each time you want to leave the park to go to
Disneyland Hotel (to take the monorail), you are going to WANT that stroller to get to and especially FROM the parks. Even Paradise Pier is a bit of a haul!
And really, getting to your hotel after a long day at the park is the biggest time you want, nay, NEED a stroller. Alas, that's exactly when you have to bid your rental stroller adieu!
