We just got back from our behind the scenes Mysteries of the Midway Tour. They allowed pictures this year! Great tour-we saw the 3 sound stage houses and the HHN museum. HHN on the 4th was a lot of fun! I would rate the houses this way (best to OK):
1. Dead Silence (so much like the movie, some great effects)
2. The Thing (scary and good props/gross)
3. Psychoscarepy (detailed! good scare actors)
4. Jacks Fun House (nice effects, scary clowns)
5. Friday The 13th (scary kills in front of you)
6. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (these guys are tall and imposing!)
7. Nightmare On Elm Street (really dropped the ball on this one-could have been great, boring sets, lots of scary Freddys though)
8. Vampire Blood Bath (short, boring sets, great makeup though)
Thursday night was a great time to go. We will never go on a weekend again. Much less drinking/smoking and much less crowded by about 50%! We were finished with all the houses, 2 shows and Jaws by 10pm. Hard Rock Hotel was great. Finnegans was a lot of fun! We got to the park around 4pm, did Twister, The Mummy and ate dinner. Then we got in line for Nightmare on Elm Street. I am so glad we did that house first as it was a big let down. I was really looking forward to Freddy. Not a lot of thought in this house considering they had a huge sound stage! Rocky Horror was good if you like the movie. Bill and Ted was funny but last year was better. We did not see the other 2 shows. There were scareactors on the streets-quite a few. There ARE a few scare zones/walk through set areas. Carnival themed. Enjoy the pics!
