Hi Colleen

Come the weekend of the 19th - - - supposed to be perfect - weather in the 60's - - - - - - I am one of the lucky ones getting to live here all four seasons - - - the great summer - the colors of fall - white, white, snow and well, spring is lovely, but very short!!

Come north - we would love to see you in Good Hart!!

I've spent a lot of time in Northern Michigan, it's beautiful there. We have a hunting cabin near Roger's City. My family is from there originally and my grandma still lives there. I highly recommend you visit there.

Small world! My family is from a small town called Posen, not far from Rogers City, and although my grandfather is gone now and my grandmother moved down here to the Detroit area, I have a couple of great aunts and uncles who still live up there. We used to visit every summer, but this summer flew by without getting up that way. We have acreage on the other side of the mitten, and that's where this summer's ventures north took us.

Colleen,
Cool! I have driven through Posen many many times throughout my life to visit my grandma. She lives in the country at Herron, Michigan. Both of my parents went to Alpena High School. And many of my dad's cousins (very large family) live in the Roger's City Area.
Nice to meet you!:wave2:
Melanie

Rockport, Massachusetts. About 30 minutes from my house. I think I've posted some pics from here before, but I'm putting these on because I hit paydirt with the light!

Rockport is home to a little red fishing house called Motif #1 which is the most painted/photographed building in the United States. While I was there I saw at least 2 dozen other people with camera's taking pics.

Only filter I used during that shoot was a CP filter. But I had taken it off before I got that shot of the clouds reflecting the water.

They are also straight out of the camera, except for transfer from RAW to JPEG.

The cloud formation was pretty cool, but on the water it looks even better. I tried to get a shot of both the water AND the sky, but the sky was to blown out as I was facing the setting sun.

I did go a little crazy and ended up taking 170 pictures. The light was absolutly incredible. I couldn't help myself. Only problem I had was that my Auto Focus setting wasn't set "properly". The day before I was playing around with Dynamic AF (where you lock the focus on the subject, but the focus will change when the subject moves). I don't think the setting works well with stationary subjects. When viewing the photos in full size, they aren't as sharp as they should be. From now one (or at least until they come out with a RESET button) I'll be leaving my Auto Focus setting on spot and use the center box. No more playing with different settings in that sense.

Very beautiful shots handicap18, I especially like the one of the row boats, but they are all good. I live in So. NH near Portsmouth and every year I say I'm going to take a drive down to Rockport but never do.
Have you ever been to Plum Island National Wildlife Refuge, I want to go there next spring. Again nice shots thanks for sharing.

Very nice! I wish I had a scanner- I have some shots of that bridge taken probably 15 years ago. The last time I was up there.

As we were coming off the bridge, my wife said she saw a moose. We decided to check it out

Thank you for the nice comment. I haven't been to Plum Island. I'll have to add that to my list. Seems as though my list is getting bigger and bigger. I need to get out more. Still have to get back down to Cape Cod and more shooting.

This is a field directly across the street from the high school our youngest goes to. I recently found out there used to be a lot of old buildings in the field but were torn down - and that some of the filming for the movie Bonnie and Clyde was filmed in this field.

The same man who told me about the Bonnie and Clyde movie said the backside of some old buildings in the "downtown" area is actually the old front of the buildings and that facade was used for a John Wayne movie. I am going to try to photograph them soon.

Your welcome, I know my list keeps getting longer, not enough time to do all I want and working nights dosen't help. Maybe in the spring we can get together and meet at Plum Island, if you don't mind being with a Canon shooter.
