Last week, I was lucky enough to be at Disneyland for the window dedication ceremony for the Sherman Brothers' new window on Main Street. Normally window dedications are held before park hours, but due to Richard Sherman's schedule, this one was held later.
For more info on Richard and Robert Sherman, jump over to the interview with Richard Sherman by DIS Unplugged's Senior Correspondent Dave Parfitt (does all of that fit on a business card, Dave??).
The Sherman Brothers: Giants Behind the Music of Disney
Let me know when you're back. I'll be right here.
The ceremony began with Bert singing a custom version of Chim Chim Cheree.
Then Richard M. Sherman was driven in on Walt Disney's Electric Runabout.
Bert helped him to his seat.
Disneyland Resort President George Kalogridis welcomed us to the ceremony.
Kalogridis then introduced two "old friends" of the Sherman Brothers: Mother and Father (from Carousel of Progress). Mother and Father gave us a history of the Sherman Brothers in song.
Thomas Schumacher, President of Disney Theatrical Group, said a few words about working with the Sherman Brothers.
Schumacher then introduced "retired" Imagineer Marty Sklar, who said a few words.
Chairman of Disney Parks & Resorts Thomas O. Staggs then spoke, because Disney wanted a couple of legends, then a "suit" for the ceremony.
MORE PICTURES TO COME.
