I posted this on the CB, but thought some of you guys might like 'em.
We headed off & went to Freebirds. I'm so glad they're "finally giving Dallas the Bird!"
If you guys aren't familiar with Freebirds, it's like Chipotle, only ten times better.
Here is "The Monster". It's a little over a foot long. I actually couldn't even finish mine. To some that's another meal - to me it's a failure.
The really scary thing is they have one that's almost twice that size.
Ok, we got to the club & found a counter to sit on, which beat standing the whole time. The only problem was there were lips on both sides, so it was like sitting on a chair with a couple pencils laying on it. Ouch. But they were giving out a bunch of demos (laying on the counters, so it was somewhat bareable)
Here's the band, Damone. I'd heard of them, but never actually heard them. Pretty decent for an opening act.
I thought that hairy bass player from Metallica died, but maybe not.
Here is Further Seems Forever. They're kinda too emo-screamo for my tastes.
Rawr.
This is The Juilana Theory. I'd heard some of their stuff, but never saw them live. They were pretty cool.
Right about this time I saw someone get kicked in the head by crowd surfers & I remembered why I hate that so much.
Here's where I was watching & hoping one of the crowd surfers would have been dumped into the mosh pit.
Yee-haw, The Ataris!
Everyone was singing along & they actually knew the words. It was almost like going to see The Eagles or something.
I have no idea how I managed to get this shot.
Artsy!
Ok, at this point, some "punker than thou" kid had been flipping them the bird & I'm sure he was yelling stuff as well. The lead singer, Kris, stopped the show & asked him why he paid his money to see them? The guy was jawing some more & the band had security toss him out of the club, but a couple people gave him a couple pops as he was leaving.
Here's the drummer, Kid. Apparently his parents weren't that creative.
Here's John. I don't know why, but in this picture his head looks huge compared to mine. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad.
This is the bass player Mike. Mike makes me look small. It very rarely happens to where I'm the little guy in the picture.
Kris Roe, the lead singer. He's been cool everytime I've talked to him & this time was no different. The only thing that was really different was that he was mobbed by people for autographs instead of maybe 20 or so people.
