Forgive me if this has already been asked, but I'm wondering if it's against the rules to remove masks for pictures. Thanks!

It's discouraged, but I have seen people take mask-less photos near the very front of the castle. I haven't, and I don't suggest it by any means, but if you are far enough away from people, you can probably do it just fine. Ask a nearby CM before to ensure they are OK with it.

The cm will say it's not allowed, it's even announced in one of their in park messages

It’s a no. Also Disney has changed the mask policy yet again and now will ask you to leave the park if found violating the rules. It actually says if you cannot adhere to the rules that you should reschedule your trip for when masks are no longer mandated.

I’ve seen some bloggers post some cute photos when they’re seated at character meals when the characters behind them (distanced) and since you’re seated you can have your mask off. So at least dining is a place to grab those family selfies (but stay seated!). I bought us cute masks for photos. Can look back and be like... wow look at how crazy for Disney we were- not even this would stop us! 😂

I was at MK on Saturday (10/17) & these were my observations for masks & pictures.

CM's were stationed around the hub & in front of the castle reminding people to pull their masks up or put them back on when they were taking pictures. This was all day. Parents telling their kids to take them off, CMs standing right there saying sorry put your mask back on please. Actually this was all over the park. They are pretty good at disappearing in the background & people don't see them lol

The photopass people will remind you to put your mask on if you try to take your mask off I saw.

If you take it off on a ride any picture taken will be deleted. I shared a boat on Pirates with a family this must have happened to cause they asked me when we were loading to please keep my mask on so they could get the picture.

You can take your mask off to eat if you are stationary. People eating in line or while wandering around were asked to put their mask up/on.

Oddly dd and I were at the parks August and October and have memory maker from our AP. We did not get a single ride picture! Many times we were the only ones on a ride and always kept our mask on so I have to wonder if they even doing pictures??

We did not want any of the ride pix we just thought it was odd that not a single one from all 4 parks showed up.

We were visiting last week and ended up with a photo of the wrong family on Expedition Everest. When I contacted Disney about the missing/incorrect photo, I was told it was because we weren‘t wearing masks, which is absolutely untrue. My daughter and I are diligent mask wearers. We watched several other people taking their masks off on rides, but we never did this. I wonder if it was due to someone else in the photo who wasn’t wearing a mask? I’m sad we’re missing out photo and felt kind of angry with the response I got that we didn’t get our photo because we weren’t wearing masks. Absolutely not true. 🙁
