Hello

We just got back from a great vacation in Arizona and have lots of pictures. I also like to buy postcards and save menus etc.

I am looking for a place to buy/order a photo book I can do some customizing and leave a few pages blank for adding my own things like the postcards. It seems like a real scrap book would be a lot of work lol

Any suggestions?

I love Shutterfly books- I have dozens. Their website is really great and easy to navigate plus they have sales all the time. I make books then wait for a good sale before I purchase. Their quality is my favorite by far- best colors, exposure and paper. I've never left pages blank at the end but I imagine you could easily do that. They have an option where you can add a memorabilia pocket for like $2 or something- it's a little plastic pocket you can stick in the back to put keepsakes in. Usually I scan my keepsakes (menus, tickets) and add them as pictures in the book so they're on the right page with my stuff (I'm a little crazy at keeping my stuff in chronological order).

I used to scrapbook. It got obnoxiously expensive and it's messy and more time consuming. Plus the books end up being SO much larger. I love shutterfly!!

you know? doing a digital book, like shutterfly always SEEMS like it's a timesaver.... when in reality the placing and editing of pictures is always such a huge hassle that I end up spending far less time just ordering prints and filling my own albums. As far as extra items, you can do a regular acid free album with sticky pages, and add a few clear notebook style envelope pages to hold little things like that..... I don't know what I do wrong, but those online books take forever.

Ditto! I love Shutterfly!
I just did my ds HS and dd college graduation and party pictures into a Shuterfly book. I use to get free books with cokerewards now I jave to wait for sales. They just had a 50% off and I ordered. But like you do, I make the books and wait for a sale.

Try Project Life. Made by Becky Higgins. It can be found on HSN and I've seen it at Hobby Lobby. Very simple, very quick. Many scrapbookers use to get caught up on projects or get a project done quickly. Basically just putting pics in slots, embellishing with things that come in kit. Great for adding your own personal touch and postcards, etc. Couldn't be simpler.

Shutter Fly. I have done like six books for Christmas gifts this Summer and paid less than half on all of them and two were free except for shipping. The first one can take a bit to figure out, but now Im a pro and it is so easy and quick. Download the app and watch the saving come in!

I have it down to a science now. I go through and delete any crappy pics and I have all the ones I want to keep in a folder and I upload to smugmug as a backup, and put on my (2) external hard drives as backups as well. Then I divide those pics on my computer into folders for each day. Then I delete further- I cut down to what I actually want in the book. Then I start a book, and upload only the pics from one day into the program. I go to the storyboard feature and click on all the pics I want to put on a page and drag onto the page. I do that until I have placed all the photos on pages. When I'm done I click on finished and it places them all on pages for me. I go in and fine tune each page the way I want it- make pictures bigger or smaller, put in certain order, add embellishments, journaling, etc. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want. Once I'm done with that day, I upload the second day and use storyboard, repeat until the book is done. I find it easier to do it that way because it breaks it into smaller pieces.

You can also upload an album and just click on "make a book for me" for the simplest way :rotfl:
